He's leading the Premier League in goals -- there's no way any involved party (other than us) would want him to be at NYCFC. He also makes $17mm per year right now.
Didn't the original hint say the player plays a position we need? Not sure how Silva fits that criteria. Also maybe I missed it, is the rumor that it's an mcfc player or are we just speculating?
I know it doesn't completely rule out a pit stop in MLS but both players have stated in the near past that they would ultimately like to return to their home countries and finish their careers with their first clubs/boyhood clubs.
Also - both players strike me as wanting to play at the highest level as long as they can before hitting their final clubs with something left in the tank. I really don't think playing in MLS is in their plans.
We should be going after Diomande. If he's going to be stuck on the bench at LAFC, might as well give another Norwegian striker a chance. How easy could we handle an $849,999 salary?
David Silva is probably the best and most expensive 33 year old in world soccer right now. Still solid starter and crucial for the best team in the EPL. Aguero turns 31 in June. Either could get a 40 million transfer and 8 million salary in China. I don't think either is coming here. Sorry.
