yea basically that. thing is he was only one saying that ( from what i heard), even if others were thinking same thing as well.
So basically Dome can’t take criticism and is guilty of hypocrisy. Got it. Knew it already from his defensive comments at pressers.

This is a club that doesn’t want to accept any criticism and it’s a do as I say not as I do setup.

I hope Lewis shines at Colorado and builds his game and experience. I’ll smile every time he plays well against us.

sure, we knew that though even from last year. thing is on lewis part you dont say this stuff out loud even off the record to other non team members even if its true ( im sure he was not the only player thinking it at the time). you get blacklisted or get shipped out like is happening here, and he is not the captain/DP level where he may be protected from such actions.

The writing was on the wall for him if he shined with the USMNT and wasn’t getting minutes at the club level. At that point, it doesn’t matter what he says, a transfer is best for everybody if the club can’t look past things to play him.

yes a transfer does help all, but i dont know colorado helps him, a columbus or something like that helps him more as they have a more capable coach and idea how to play. colorado has no coach now if new one comes in and doenst like him ( again) then hes screwed yet again.

If Colorado traded for him while not having a coach, then the GM is gonna tell the future coach to use him until proven not to be an asset.

From the Montreal post-game thread.

Ayooo game was trash

My sources say players are confused as hell with dome and they done with him most likely
They - the players or the club?

Players I won’t say who said the stuff I heard

Interesting to look back on this.

One thing to keep in mind - if we stick with the 3-4-3, we don't have the need for all the wingers we have on the team. So, whether or not Jona was permanently in the dog house, we have traded away excess depth to get salary cap flexibility (hopefully, substantial flexibility).

We can use that to further adjust our roster to match our new tactical approach. How about a left footed defender to back up Callens? Maybe someone who can also back up Ofori in the midfield if need be. Essentially an upgrade on Rocha.

Think a more defensive-minded Maxi. He's an offensively capable 6 and the only midfielder on the roster other than Maxi that can hold possession and pick out probing passes that skip lines (though Ofori has been doing a pretty good job at this lately).

I wrote more about him here: https://theoutfield.org/2019/02/20/meet-six-new-nycfc-players-who-are-not-david-villa/

The youtube clip there I think gives a great visual summary.

I think we're all looking at the Lewis GAM all wrong. We paid $250k in GAM to acquire him. But we had him for 2.5 seasons with zero cap hit (that's what GAM is for, to counter the cap). If a similar player cost us $100k a year vs the cap, we're even at this point. So any GAM we get now is house money.

Sad to see Lewis go, but business is business. If you can get a good haul for your third? fourth? choice winger then you pull the trigger. Shame, as I usually enjoyed watching him....rare that we lose a player who actually gave us some good memories.

We'll see what the terms are, but if we can use the money wisely to upgrade part(s) of the squad that have more of a need then we're not going to miss him.

Well except we're trading away this year's $125k in JLew Generation Adidas Allocation Money, which will be part of whatever price the teams agreed on (Ives says it's "in the $500k range," but that doesn't tell us much without a G or T attached to it). Probably a good deal unless you think Lewis had potential to go to Europe that two coaches failed to bring out of him (three if you count Louisville), but based on what we've seen this seems fine.

So in our first three years of existence we drafted a player in spots 1-3 of the draft. We’ve since traded one to SKC, transferred another to Man City, and now traded the last to COL. If $500k GAM rumors are true, then I say we did pretty well parlaying 2/3 of those picks.
