With Maxi Gone, does it make it more likely that Callens and Johnson are back (more money to spend on them), less likely (going for a rebuild) or doesn’t make a difference(one doesn't impact the other)

I wouldn’t link these. Maxi seemingly wanted to go home for the past few years. Santi doesn’t appear to want to be here either at least from my perception.
Going to have a lot of new faces this season.
Seems pretty clear to me that 2022 was the last kick of the can for the core of our roster. I hope we bring back Callens and Johnson, but definitely wouldn't be surprised if neither returned the way this off-season is going. Seems like we're going to have to start fresh next season
My prediction is Sean is back, Alex is not.
While both are key players for the team. I feel like losing Callens is a bigger loss than losing Johnson. Callens not being there made the defense much worse.
Agreed. If there's one "must-sign" it's Callens. If it doesn't happen, I suspect we'll see Tayvon slip into the CB role and pair with Martins, although with the roster in so much flux and so many holes to fill I don't think we'll have anything like a clear picture until January. Everything is pretty speculative at this point.
Callens is the one dude I definitely don't want to lose, though. And to be honest, Sean is right there with him. We really should bring both of them back if it's at all possible.

Callens made $800k -- I don't think we need to assume that if he leaves he'd be replaced internally.
Agreed. I was just looking at what we know we have and the holes we know we have to fill and making an educated guess.
There are so many variables, that's all it really is: a guess. But it's a logical move if we decide to sign an attacking right back to replace Boom, don't sign Callens, and look to fortify the front line with a bona fide (and probably fairly expensive) striker.
But in all honesty, I think we re-sign our guy. Especially with the squad in so much flux. Callens is our rock, really. I can't imagine the front office not doing what needs to be done to keep him.
We're lucky he's the age he is, as otherwise methinks he'd be off to Europe.
Absolutely. Were he 23, 24 or so after the season he just put in we'd have a very hard time keeping him.

where's that chart with all the timings for our signings? I think someone posted/shared it at some point.
Our timing for signings varies but i think right now, they are focused on keeping callens and johnson. of course they have others in the works too. i think we'll see some signings announced right before and during preseason.
The only thing is, there's only so much time you can devote towards two players when you have a whole roster to fill... And I hope there's not just a whole team of people sitting around staring at Callens and Johnson contracts, pacing back and forth saying "oh man i hope they re-sign"... like they're definitely doing other things too, lol.
I think we start seeing some announcements next week after the new year. The team is probably riding on the high of the stadium announcement still, trying to push it to the new year.
of course. i'm sure they've already given them offers and are just waiting on decisions or maybe it's already done but they haven't had time to do all the media work (i.e., interviews, photos, etc) to announce it yet.
i'm sure the club is working on all potential signings. it'd be foolish to focus on just 2. but i think they did spend some time trying to work out good offers for them.
I'm hoping we make some good signings. Kinda hope Sands comes back so he gets more time in his preferred position. I think it'd be better for him long term.
