Damn that metric system! If they measured 9 times on Jovan they need a new tape measure.

Yeah I probably could have used a better metaphor, such as too many chefs in the kitchen, or something to better reflect the slow decision making of the organization. If they measured 9 times on Jovan they need a new tape measure.
I think so. And I must admit, I was clearly wrong in my estimation of how much autonomy Lee has had up to now. I thought we were essentially left to our own devices and CFG cared only about results, but now I think England is calling the shots to a much greater degree than I believed.Yeah I probably could have used a better metaphor, such as too many chefs in the kitchen, or something to better reflect the slow decision making of the organization.
I can't remember who made the complaint about waiting for decisions to be made in England, was it Dome?

In all fairness, a lot of clubs had Jovan on their board. Anyone might have gotten burned on that one.It was a good analogy, I remember hearing that about CFG before as well, I just can't pass on a Jovan joke when I get a chance.
Our roster last season was foundationally solid. It was like we were down 1 with runners in scoring position all Lee/CFG had to do was put the ball in play by signing some decently productive attackers, instead, they went out there and took wreckless home run swings and completely struck out.

Ojeda is going to be good, maybe really good. Julian has the physicality but he's raw. The flashes he shows are encouraging, though.
So, both of those may yet work out. But yeah, they weren't much help last season, for a lot of reasons.
Absolutely true. So far, he's been pretty lost out there. A lot of the problem seems to be his instincts, and that's troubling, to say the least. You can't refine what isn't there. And while he is still young, he should have a better feel for the game by now.doesn't matter how much flash fernandez shows if his brain can't keep up with the tactics and play style jansen or any other coach wants. if he doesn't improve on the mental side of the game, he won't go far.
Rumor -- unsure how legitimate the source is -- that we are interested in a Ukrainian No. 10 who plays for Genoa in Serie A.
BTW -- that player is 31 years old, which would be our oldest DP since Maxi came over.
If tranfermarket.us is correct Genoa got him on loan from Marseille in Aug. 2023. His loan ended on Jan 31, 2024, and Genoa paid $7M to keep him. Seems odd to pay that much for a player only to part ways 3 months later.
This account keeps putting names out there for nycfc and is the only one to seem to have these rumors.Rumor -- unsure how legitimate the source is -- that we are interested in a Ukrainian No. 10 who plays for Genoa in Serie A.
We must be able to do better than this.A 31 year old that I've never heard of (and I've watched a few Ukraine NT matches) AND he is coming back from a broken leg?
No thanks.

This is New York. This club needs to stop acting like San José or Nashville. We need to go big. Columbus and Cincinnati are more aggressive than we are.You may be right. But people said similar things about Maxi Moralez when he was brought in about how he was barely even a DP, was a "cheap" DP, etc. He turned into the best player in Club history. If this guy comes onboard, let's give him a chance.
The transfer fee won't be as significant as some of the other teams in MLS but we need a big, veteran No. 10. This guy would be that, and we'd be getting him not too far removed from being a capable player in a Big-5 league, similar to how we received Maxi.

HUGE factor which I don't think we mention enough. I took a lot of heat on Twitter (when I was still on it) for saying we'd never truly thrive until we were in our own park. I think our historical record is remarkable considering our vagabond ways. And we're spending all that money while being one of the only MLS teams (the only team?) with virtually no stadium revenue.
