Some really good players on that exposed list, even though a lot are older now. Could be some great year one picks for them.

Man, I hate the expansion draft.

for sure. some solid league veteran players for them to rely on. not sure any of those on the list would be worth picking though based on salary, unless SD really wanted that player to begin with.

A Lodeiro, Russel, etc... would be pretty good picks as a solid veteran player to build with. Definitely not a long-term piece but nothing expansion draft screams long-term to me lol

At the risk of Shwafta'ing it, I think of ALL the people on this list, the least likely to be picked is Mijatovic. Even if they have that whole fee thing, they would never take the rsik of no one actually being interested and then being saddled with his salary.
But even if his value has crashed, they should be able to get a million for him, right? we paid 8 million. I mean, getting somebody for free and flipping him for a million would be good business, I assume. But I guess the draft is designed in a way that you cannot just do that. I don't know

Well, the MLS writers think that San Diego should take him...

This could potentially go down as one of the worst sporting department blunders in club or league history. Maybe even worse than Lampardgate from a financial perspective.

I like that the local Fox 5 station in San Diego is covering the draft live. Wonder what that even entails.

I was thinking about this. If they sell for less than we paid would they get no GAM based on the rules? I know it's still money in their pocket but it might not be money for their roster.

According to a Tom Bogert tweet, here's the deal on Jovan.

NYCFC hasn't paid the transfer fee in full.
So if San Diego takes him they're responsible for the balance.

There was no mention as to how much is still owed.

They will pick Bakrar , and then when we play them he will have a worldy and score 5 passed us

Could be over $6 million San Diego would have to pay. Very small chance they take him for that reason. It's a poison pill.

I doubt any of our guys get picked, honestly. We'll find out tomorrow night.

My thought on Jovan is this: I saw him twice with the Deuces, and in no way did he set himself apart from the rest of the squad or the opponent's. He was barely involved.

I hope San Diego takes him.

Alright. Who can remember the players we selected in the 2014 Expansion Draft? There were 10.

And don't cheat by looking it up (which is what I had to do).

McNamara, Grabavoy, Wingert, Ballouchy, Tony Taylor, George John, ... that's all I got.

Just looked it up after I finished guessing and LOL.
