2025 Roster and Transfer Discussion Thread

Andrew Jacobsen, Kwame Watson-Siriboe, Jason Hernandez, Josh Saunders?

Just throwing out other league players not previously mentioned. Can't remember how these guys were acquired.

McNamara, Grabavoy, Wingert, Ballouchy, Tony Taylor, George John, ... that's all I got.

Just looked it up after I finished guessing and LOL.
Very good. All six are correct.

Hernandez is correct.

That gives us 7.

The remaining 3 include 2 players that we traded and 1 who played for us.

Alright. Who can remember the players we selected in the 2014 Expansion Draft? There were 10.

And don't cheat by looking it up (which is what I had to do).

I have no idea who Orlando took on our side I can remember: Ned G, Mehdi, TMAC, George John, Tony Taylor, and Wingert, I could be mixing up singed players with the expansion draft though. Was Mullens Superdraft or expansion draft?

I will repeat that I still have faith in Bakrar. He's underlying numbers are strong, and he's got a great work ethic on the pitch.

I agree with you, I still think its possible Bakrar turns it around and I think SD could feel the same making Bakrar the player I think is most likely to be chosen.

Still a pretty horrible look for Lee who took two years to replace Taty because he said he had to make sure he got the right player and his player was Bakrar who is not even worth protecting in the expansion draft even though we paid $3M for him.

On a different topic, San Diego just acquired Andres Reyes from Red Bulls, so that probably takes all our CBs off the board from the expansion draft tonight.

they can still take one and flip him to another team for something they want. that tends to happen.

I actually think the player with the highest chance to be picked from our roster is Tomas Romero. Non-international spot backup goalie on a small salary seems like the exact kind of player usually selected in one of these events.

Wow, I thought he was really good for them in the playoffs, interesting they would part with him.
For 800K GAM, maybe it's a good deal.

Patrick Mullins?

Yes. Patrick Mullins is #8. 6 goals in 31 appearances.

That leaves the two players traded out.

Ryan Meara came in on one of those trades, but I don't remember the player traded out.
Correct. The player traded out ended up getting sent off in a match against us a couple years later.

The other player traded out was traded to his original team, is still in the league, and has 13 caps for the USMNT, all in 2019.

Agreed , I was never onboard with the hate he got . I think he is a decent squad player who can come on late in a game and press their back line and pressure them into making a mistake and create opportunities for others on the team

Just cheated and I had no idea that we had drafted that last player you're referring to (the one with the USMNT caps).

The former one (the one sent off), I do recall us drafting and trading away.

For 800K GAM, maybe it's a good deal.

We paid a $1M transfer fee for Risa. 800K GAM for Reyes, a 25-year-old proven MLS starting CB that doesn't take an international slot seems like a decent deal to me.

Last two guys are Sal Zizzo, traded to Red Bulls for one year of Ryan Meara, and Daniel Lovitz, traded back to Toronto and now with Nashville.

Prompted my memory that I was not familiar with MLS at all and when they streamed the draft and I heard that we drafted Lovitv and Ballouchy it sounded like some weird SNL skit crossover.
[you have to sound out Ballouchy]
