While these games should get us at least 4 points, it's not the end of the world if they don't. This is MLS, where you often see teams struggle out of the gate before going on a tear all the way to MLS Cup. You also see far more upsets than you do in the PL.
Unfortunately, we are that team, and most likely will be for the rest of this season. It will take us at least another year or two before we can acquire and develop a plethora of quality attacking talent. Perhaps later in the season, one of our youngsters will develop enough to be more reliable, but we just are not there yet.
Unfortunately, this is not Europe where we can just open our wallets and build a quality eleven. It will take several years of drafts, DP's, trades and discovery projects before we are on equal footing with the rest of the league.
that I understand, and given this is our first season I'm honestly not even expecting to make playoffs. I'd like for us to, obviously, but if we do not, as long as we put forth some performences and show we mean business, that alone is a strong starting point. But we do have players with experience aside from Villa, being; Nemec, Velazquez, Mix, Grabavoy, Mullins, Hernandez, Brovsky, Saunders... etc. we are not a team full of Khiry Shelton's, straight out of college. we have people who've been around the league/world. which is why I would hate to see the team steer in the direction of solely Villa being our only outlook for attack.
Missing him in our games is actually important for us, it'll show what we need and what we have (incase he god forbid gets injured) Kreis can use this to tailor his gameplan to make sure that even without a star or two, we are a team that can play, first season or not.
I'm an Inter fan, all we know how to do is waste money and say buy buy buy. But I for one am against it. We have the potential to become a strong team, we have the foundation. we just cant have that tunnel vision kinda mentality "feed villa" until something good happens.
