I would love to see a USMNT hopeful! I love that many of them already play in the MLS but would be annoyed not to see one be reppin NYC.
Eddie Johnson is with DC now. I too like AJ but I highly doubt we see him. We'll probably get Altidore.I don't know how much a guy like Mix makes, Johannsen, etc. But it would be cool to take some guys from this year's Cup team - guys maybe under the radar from your average World Cup fan - and buy them. Seattle can have Eddie Johnson. I would take Johannsen and his talent every day.

Why the hell would someone from Norwegian league be designated? Seemingly its for no reason other than being American. Certainly don't think anyone will complain about a US international being signed but thankfully those at the club have the intelligence not to make it the main signing. An interview here from Mr Diskerud from last May and some interesting comments on the MLS...

Very likely that they will offer an American/Canadian DP spot along with 3 other spots for whatever use necessary. Would allow teams to compete to retain homegrown talent, and still have the option of bringing in 3 additional players.Given the way the league seems to be targeting USMNT players to bring back to America, I won't be surprised one bit if we see a 4th DP slot created for USMNT/CanMNT players. Not one bit.
Seattle has 1.
Galaxy have 2.
NYCFC will have 1.
Philly has 1.
DC United has 1.
RSL has 2.
SKC has 2.
Toronto has 1.
San Jose has 1.
Montreal has 1.
Houston has 1 or 2.
Portland will have 1 in a year or so when Nagbe gets his eligibility.
....
The league will want to retain these guys.
He makes 1.4 million euros in Norway which is around 2 million here so he'd have to be a DP if he was expecting to make that kind of money
If we don't sign him as a DP then he would have to go through the allocation processWhere did you find his salary? I think you might be looking at his transfer value or else it's merely coincidence that you gave his salary as the same number that transfer markt lists as value. I'm not sure where I got this number (and the source may have itself been speculative, so this info is worth what you're paying for it), but I recall reading somewhere that his salary was around 1.5 mil Krone. That would be around $250k, which is under the DP charge I believe.
I would love to see Mix on the team. I have a feeling the salary cap is going to go up significantly with this CBA, and he could possibly fit without DP designation. If we're filling up to 8 slots with U21 loanees from MCFC, then that in and of itself could give us some flexibility other clubs aren't afforded.
As a player, he's got more than enough technical skill and creativity to be a key cog in the attack. I also think he'd improve his all-around game playing in a more physical league such as MLS. Perhaps even more importantly, he's young, charismatic and extremely likable. He's also active on social media and in the community and has the looks of a Tolkienesque Elf.
He certainly checks all the boxes for me. Oh, and he reps the Yankees all the time as well.

Pretty sure as a new team we sit at the top of that, well, us and Orlando. Coin flip I think? If we don't sign him as a DP then he would have to go through the allocation process
