I generally enjoy your content but, in all honesty, I think it was disingenuous, at best, for you to have discussed Chanot without, at least, mentioning his handsomeness. However, I will give you a pass this time.
Fair enough. Though, I'll warn you, last year at the first home match, they were announcing the starting lineup and Leah remarked that Chris Wingert was handsome and had nice hair. So, if you want to link Chanot with him, you can do that, but the forum will not be happy.

FWIW, she subsequently retracted this comment.

Get rid of the 3 man backline and playing Pirlo more forward were two tactical adjustments that really helped us even before Harrison/Lampard.
Seemed to me we were progressing nicely strategically. I don't see that currently, just wondered if someone was seeing something I wasn't.

Just because we have surrendered some possession since Lampard returned, doesn't mean we aren't progressing. We are just progressing a different direction. We gave up some possession for some more finishing ability.

Lampard replaced Mikey Lopez in the starting lineup. To say that things got worse is silly. They're just different.

Coach V with praise for the next opponent.

“I really like the way they play football, I really like the way the manager wants the team to play, and when I watch them from home, I really enjoy watching them play because they have a clear philosophy, a clear way to play,” Vieira said.

* * *

“They are not in a position where they are supposed to with the way they play. They’ve been really unlucky with injuries, with some of the scenarios in games,” Vieira said. “We are not looking at the league table because the league table doesn’t tell us how well this team has been playing.”

Columbus has scored 26 goals (15th in league) and conceded 35 (15th in the league).

We have scored 40 goals (first) and conceded 40 goals (last).

Jay Z wants us to go 0-0 in all games the rest of the season. 40/40 club. Also U Pick for this week?

Lampard's return overlapped with our usage of center backs at RB and RJ at LB. While it's possible that Lampard has had a negative effect on ball retention / recovery, I think we'll see a massive increase in possession once we have our full back situation sorted out again.

Ronald Matarrita is likely to return to the NYCFC lineup for Saturday’s match after missing the past month due to an ankle injury. Matarrita is training with the squad but Vieira said he will hold off until later in the week before deciding on his status for Saturday.

“I was talking to him this week and he’s feeling good,” Vieira said. “If he’s fit to travel, he will be someone I take into consideration.”

When was the last time we had our standard lineup (with the exception of Chanot)?

----McNamara--Villa--Harrison---------
-------------Pirlo----Lampard------------
-------------------Iraola--------------------
--Mata---Chanot-----Brillant----Allen--

I think we ran that lineup out there for the NE match on 7/6.

Forecast is looking terrible. Wonder how this might affect the game.

Generally speaking, bad weather can be an equalizer, so it's not good for the favorite (us) to see a forecast like the below. I also wonder if we are going to get delays with this one.

It's not a great equalizer when you've got a team of mudders like we do. See, for example, the Colorado game. Let it rain!

We are playing bunker and counter attack up the wings, and not getting Villa involved. Villa is getting 2-3 shots a game when he used to get 8-10. When was his last goal? I wouldn't say that keeping the ball away from the ex-golden boot leader is progress.

Maybe we just aren't supposed to play Columbus in a nice weather scenario. I remember there was a delay last year when we played them in Columbus due to thunder/lightning. Think it was an hour delay or something like that. Poku had both our goals when we tied them 2-2.

Unless Columbus has recently signed a couple of Englishmen, I don't see the weather as being the great equalizer - Lamps & Harrison were born and bred on a soggy wet field under a downpour of rain and this will bring back cheery memories for them. Let it rain and let those two do their thing while we enjoy from the comforts of our sofas - it's the crew's fans that will hate life with zero overhead coverage and the speed of their wingers nullified.....

I will just have to make sure my DVR is set to record for an extra few hours in case there are lightning delays.... hosting whisky night and I'm quite certain my wife & her friends will commandeer the main TV for Olympics coverage thus relegating me to a late night watching....

I think the team plays fine in the rain (e.g., Colorado). I'm more nervous about 88 degrees plug high humidity. I feel like the heat index will be close to 100 tomorrow, and they did not play well in the heat against KC or RBNJ.

Hourly forecast has it down to 81 at kickoff and dropping into high 70s - timing and extent of rain will really make the difference. Hard to know what to expect.

Rain. Lampard scores a hat trick.

Rain. Thunder. Lighting. Lampard scores a double hat trick depending on when the ref calls the game.
