Away - Orlando 08/28

I live in Miami. I went up to O-Town last year. No Pirlo so therefore No Party. Was so bummed he didn't play.

NYC supporters were crammed up in the corner on the opposite side of the pitch from The Ruckus and Orlando's other supporters groups. I was sitting about 15 rows closer to the field than the away supporters

I really want to go again this year but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

The "feels like" temperature in Florida right now is BALLS HOT. Last year NYC played here in October when it's not nearly as humid. This will be a really tough match for NYC. A draw would be huge.
They're used to the weather it's been BALLS HOT in New York. I was just in Delray for a week and it was cooler in Florida then in New York.

You were probably within a few miles of the beach in Delray where there is a breeze. If you live 5 miles from the beach it's a whole different experience.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the humidity levels in NY are very different than Florida?

NY can get pretty humid - though not necessarily as much as Florida. Last week was a notable exception. It was miserable up here.

I don't really disagree with that, but one or two moments can be the difference and, setting aside the scary moments, he is still too ponderous on the ball. I'm absolutely not giving up on him -- just saying that I don't think he is in our best 11 right now as we make a serious run. I absolutely want to keep him into next year.

I do think he is a very credible MLS centerback who would be even better in a system that didn't require him to play the ball so much.

You could also argue that Mena has about 1-2 one on one shut down moments per game that I'm not sure anyone else on the roster is capable of. The ease at which he has dispossessed some of the biggest names in the league in the box, 1v1 without even coming close to fouling is amazing. Maybe those saves offset the misses in possession. He appears to have the touch and the ball skills to play in possession. The missing link appears to be indecision that will only get better with experience.

Agreed. I spent time in Orlando and Tampa last year for work and thought I could deal with the humidity there because NYC gets pretty humid. Its on another level down there.

I feel like the reason we think it may be comparable is due to the amount of walking we do here. Whereas down in Orlando, you're driving everywhere and hopping from air-conditioned car, to air-conditioned building.

I hear you about the weather. However I am hoping a 7pm start time will lessen the humidity a little bit.

Even though a draw probably would be a good result, we need 3 points to keep pace with TOR.

Strictly for the drama, I am curious what the interaction will be, if any, between the players and Kreis. Especially the 3 DPs, since supposedly Kreis lost the locker room last season.

And if he did lose the locker room, hopefully the DPs will be fired up for this game and want to prove a point

To have a chance at first place and stay comfortably ahead of NYRB for second, NYC almost certainly has to win at least one road game. If the team does not win out at home make it 2 road wins. NYC does not have to win this one but there's only 4 left.

I think our DPs are professional enough to be magnanimous towards Kreis. They will take the high road no matter what happened last year. That doesn't mean they won't be fired up, I fully expect the three of them to play with the utmost intensity.

8 games remain..... 8 wins..... We're balling out as long as Saunders doesn't let the easy ones in. Ok, maybe 7-1-0 or 6-0-2.....

Agreed. I also noted on the play he looked really bad on v LAG, no one was showing for him. Pirlo was way off in the middle of the field, and matarrita was near the midway line. Its not always the passers fault if he doesn't have a target. He is regularly in the nineties with passing percentage

I agree with the thinking of RJ vs. Brek Shea from a physicality standpoint.

We have essentially played a Back 3 offensively with Hernandez at RB. Matarrita forays forward as he will and the three natural CBs fall in accordingly. We actually have the pieces now to play a 3-5-2 if we wanted to, but then you lose McNamara.

Very happy to see Shea playing in an attacking role again. Shocked that Kreis, the guy who plays folks out of position, realized that he is a winger and not a LB.

Watching ORL-TOR and happy Larin just scored to knot it up.

But I do feel bad for the people of Orlando. Can you imagine what it must feel like to be a fan of a Jason Kreis managed team?

ORL defense falls asleep and Altidore breaks the trap to give TOR a 2-1 win to move past NYCFC into first (and 2 straight road wins).

Thanks, Orlando. TOR now has six of their final eight at home, so first place in the East is going to be rough to get now for NYCFC.
