Bless Their Hearts (RBNJ Talk Here)

Heard Jason Davis on the radio arguing that Red Bull fans have been Jedi Mind tricked into supporting Leipzig and settling for developing players over wining championships .

If City pull another Lampardgate, or pull a young academy player from us before they're truly ready for the next level in Europe, I will blast them on social media all day every day. I will not be subjected to Jedi mind tricks. I am a Jedi!

Given the Red Bulls’ performances the last few seasons, as well as the performances of their young players after heading overseas, this whole thing seems like a steaming pile of bullshit to me. They generally play great soccer, and their players do well once they leave.

I actually laughed out loud. mlssoccer.com posted an article about the current status of the playoff races in both conferences that went up with multiple errors, including basic stuff like how many points certain teams have, and the title only mentions the East, but they include all the West team, further but the discussion of the West teams is all "lorem ipsum" filler text and the numbers are all 000s. Also they listed the Red Bulls twice, but one of the entries was obviously about NYCFC. Which led to this priceless exchange in the comments. If an NYCFC fan had responded, this would not be remarkable. Even if a DCU or Philly fan responded, it would be expected. But I loved this exchange with the retort coming from an Orlando fan:

They have fixed some but I don't think all of the mistakes.

...He didn't even flop. He fell over himself. At what point do teams start posting complaints? VAR is here to fix the game, and if something like that doesn't get reviewed, that's the most unfair shit I've ever seen and feel SO bad for DC. Why is that fair? If I were DC I'd ask for a rematch because that is SERIOUSLY a disgrace.

I think this is why MLS needs a central VAR control hub, based in NY or DC or wherever. Have a group of people watching all the games and reviewing all the plays. Have 1-2 people fully focused on a particular game, with an additional 3-4 "overseers" to help review potential VAR decisions for the game or games going on. Multiple eyes can review/replay the call or situation and come to a better solution instead of relying on a single referee at the game that may have missed a call. One VAR ref at each game can still allow for a substantial bias in whether something gets called or not. Or, they just miss something. More likely not to happen if there are multiple people reviewing and watching the game. Another positive is that the 4-5 people reviewing games will presumably create a more consistent line as to what gets called or how something gets called. Follow what the NHL does with their review room "Situation Room" in Toronto (more info here).

That was a flop and terrible call on the field but poor candidate for VAR. The defender clipped his heel. Barely, but it was there, and once that call is made....
