Successful people will always attach themselves to successful things; it is the way of the World.
NYCFC become successful and celebs will start turning up, or stating they are "a fan" even if they don't ever go to matches.
Personally, I couldn't care less, but it will inevitably happen. But what you want are real 'true (celebrity) fans' - all the English clubs have them, irrespective of how great or awful the clubs are.
For example, Dirk Benedict is a City fan; his son even went to our Academy. Timothy Dalton is also a City fan and has been for decades.
However, Kevin Costner says he is an Arsenal fan, yet I believe he has only been once in the 90s, and to my knowledge has never spoken about them since.
You want the former type at NYCFC, and not the Costner type, who just happens to dig the cannon as a logo, and the nickname 'Gunners'.

In the rare occurrence we get scored on at home, Id love to see kanye West pull a taylor swift moment and rush the field to interrupt the opposing players celebration and say, "Sorry, but NYCFC is the best damn team in this league".

Happened to come across this on google news today. Not very likely I'll listen to any games on WFAN (if it broadcasts on internet) but those who do better hope commentary is more informed than this...
Francesa is a pompous a-hole, but his show has been #1 in the New York market for years and nobody comes close to matching his ratings. Hopefully somewhere down the line Reyna/Pernetti can get some air time on his program. I'm pretty sure Pernetti was interviewed by Francesa before, so there just may be a hook there.
