Can someone who knows more than me about these things explain why Okoli wouldn't be protected?
Well, I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out who the hell Johnson was. Doh.Johanssen and Okoli are the surprises to me
ETA: And Gomez, to a slightly lesser extent
NYCFC is really rolling the dice knowing we will only lose one player...... if it isn't Saunders, then he's getting the buyout. From looking at the unprotected list, could see potential interest for Mena, Okoli, or Saunders. Gomez also to a lesser extent.
A club might also be interested in Lurch as he's very cheap and has some skills, potentially to be a backup. (Although he does take int'l slot).
Maybe he has trade value because he's cheap. And while there are nearly limitless numbers of cheap, shitty American players, very few have started a conference semifinal match.Lol Mikey Lopez, ugh
Official lists for all teams:

EDIT: Looks like EJ is "ineligible for draft"... Why?
How can Saunders be waived? We'd have to buy his contract out since the team extended it with a new deal last year.Dream Salary Scenario:
- Mena is taken in the Expansion Draft. Frees up an International Spot and 200K+
- Josh Saunders is waived. Frees up 150K+
- Mix is traded???
Hmmm...... what if the paperwork for his contract hasn't yet been finalized (until after the draft is over)? He is going from the USL to MLS so lawyer/agent has to get involved. Loophole to keep him?Okoli doesn't appear anywhere
You are reading that incorrectly
Would be worth checking if any other signings from the last couple of weeks (if any) show up on the list.I wonder if there is some rule that players signed within a certain time period prior to the list/draft are excluded like Okoli. That would explain the baffling pre draft signing and the lack of protection.
