I think Okoli could have been picked up by either team weeks ago if they wanted him.
I always liked Alan Gordon's time with San Jose. I was hoping we'd pick him up in our expansion draft.LA's list is rather interesting.

Sorry. Must have overlooked it since I only trust lawyers with workarounds.I wonder who else could have said the same thing before JayH .....
There's the whole international spot issue though. ATL seems to have as big an appetite for foreign players as NYC does so a lot of theirs are already used up. I know the consensus on this board is the spots are cheap to buy but as demand goes up so will the price. There are a ton of keepers available - some teams didn't protect any. Clint Irwin and Steve Clark are available, for example. FYI, RBNY protected both Meara and Robles. I would be shocked if Saunders is picked above either of them. Lurch has value because he is young and cheap. ATL might need a backup.
I don't know how much that is "interesting" - meaning that we should read something into it about player/team rights, etc.It is interesting to see the full extent of our Unprotected List. It includes guys we returned on loan, which presumably means one of the teams could pick first chance at returning the player to MLS. It also includes guys who we didn't extend.

We could have already agreed with ATL to take a particular player as part of the SJ deal. Maybe not, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. The only person on the unprotected list that I am worried about is Gomez. I think he has a lot of potential and at a bargain price. Then again, we hardly got a look at him (90 minutes of an underwhelming match) - which means that the scouts for Minnesota and ATL have probably seen less than what we have seen.
As has been pointed out, for those we don't extend, we still hold MLS rights. With the loans, etc., I'd guess it's more of the same plus something as simple as we still hold their certificates/registrations until the transfer windows open in the respective leagues.I don't know how much that is "interesting" - meaning that we should read something into it about player/team rights, etc.
Vs. "interesting" - meaning NYCFC/MLS interns don't know the rules any better than we do.

Seriously... he's starting to piss me off. Does he really think we're all rooting for him and his contract/salary over the club and it's success? Get over yourself, Pantene.
I'm not rooting for anything but a solution. I expect he's not too thrilled by the situation. Even golden handcuffs are handcuffs.Seriously... he's starting to piss me off.
