Frank Lampard Thread

He'll come to NYC if he thinks that he can be a first-team starting contributor. That's what NYCFC offers that MCFC doesn't; he only started once in the holiday period for the citizens and came off the bench most of the time. If he's happy coming off the bench for a trophy contender, he'll stay in Manchester.

I like your thinking. Playing time makes sense. But why NYC? If he's out of contract he can theoretically go anywhere. Why not pull a Lebron and go back to West Ham. Surely he can start there. Or on the other side of the coin, if he wants to be a super sub, he can go back to Chelsea for one last run? What does NYC offer him over a mid-table PL team, or a huge contract in China or the Middle East?

Why NYC: Greatest media market in the world. Boost your brand, not to mention great place to live.
Why not West Ham: Because they're not winning a trophy. NYCFC could. Same for other mid-table EPL teams.
Why not Chelsea: because they let him go already. I'm sure he's motivated to stick one to the guy who let him walk despite his service to the club.

He won't be going back to Chelsea after this. I'm moving on and I hope you guys do to. It's useless and we should focus on players who are here and are committed to us. He's not and I'm assuming he won't bother showing up in July. That would be the best solution. Respect toVilla, Brovsky and everyone excited to be here and wear the crest.

Suffice it to say, but my friends and I are rather less excited about our season tickets now. Oh well.

It's all starting to make sense to me now. Little by little the pieces are fitting.

Lamps signs with MCFC, and tells CFG that he will definitely sign with NYCFC in 2015. When? Ahhhh, maybe Jan 1, but we'll see. They shake hands, and order KFC.

NYCFC, like a kid with a new toy, tells the world that Lamp is signed, well because Lamp told us and he ate KFC with us. He's a man of character, damn it! All of us suckas believe it. We buy jerseys, t-shirts and season tickets. We get giddy whenever someone mentions his name.

Lamp performs well for MCFC, and feels the buzz again. He realizes that he can still play in the EPL, and that MLS is for babies still sucking on their momma's teet. MCFC and Lamp know that he has no binding agreement with NYCFC, so they decided "f MLS and NYCFC!", and plan to have Lamp stay at MCFC all season. They let NYCFC know the deal, and they send them to their room without any KFC.

NYCFC is left with their twig and berries flapping in the wind.

I think that brings us up to date. The more I think about it, the less I blame NYCFC. Kind of. They were just naive and were lied to as well. Lampard is really the one to blame here, I think.
Your scenario doesn't explain one very, very important thing: Why did CFG sign Villa to an MLS contract but not Frank?

I think you're mistaken. I think NYCFC were told to parade him around as though he was theirs. I think what really happened is Villa signs and goes to Australia, and right around the time they were going to sign Lampard, Australia informs CFG that they won't allow Lampard to join Villa at Melbourne for parity's sake.

So it becomes apparent Frank will stay with Manchester but someone at CFG had a nagging feeling that maybe Frank could help out Manchester....so they get CFG to sign him to a CFG contract with the break clause so that Frank can essentially audition to cover while Yaya is away at AFCON. If he does ok, they'll keep Frank until the start of the MLS season, if he proves to be too old, we'll ship him off to America at the end of December.

Meanwhile, we'll just tell everyone in NY he's signed for them because what difference will it ever make? I suspect the person with the nagging feeling was Pellegrini and I suspect he told Frank the situation. Play well and you stay, don't play well and you go. So Frank sensing one last hurrah goes out there and blows everyone away and you know the rest.

My original post was what if we're towards the bottom half of the table ourselves come july? Mid-table PL team, vs mid-table MLS team? A PL fairwell tour would probably play better with sponsorships then showing up for 3 months in MLS. He's not selling anymore NYC jerseys, we know that! I also agree with @BxLio91 that it's starting to feel like "not my farm, not my pig" and we should be focusing more on the upcoming draft, and our boys that are here and committed. If he bothers to show up in July, then I'll start hiding my cookieburgers.

I know I don't know a thing about this whole mess anymore... One thing is unfortunately for certain, you can not rely on the clubs' statements anymore (which is an infuriating loss of integrity that we need to keep protesting against) but also not on some news reports of some papers that don't know the whole truth either.

Maybe he had a contract with CFG, that would allow them to place him in any of their branches? I mean, wasn't he supposed to head to Melbourne until the Australian FA intervened?

Just brought this up on ESPN FC and beat us over the head again.

They also wondered about the 3rd party ownership aspect.
