I will have to re-watch the match (and I probably won't) but from my seat's view (136/right behind the goal in front of the supporters) on Saturday it appeared that Frank and for that matter the coaching staff made a clever adjustment to have him shade more towards Jack's wing rather than playing centrally. This helped to keep the defense honest and prevent the double since Hernandez doesn't/cannot/should not provide the overlapping runs that RJ uses to free up Jack and prevent double teaming. Jack was able to work in open space for the first time in about 3 matches - that may account for the Persecutions Exhibits A, B, and C. You see what I did there...Persecutions

I'm really not sure I've ever seen such a massive 1v1 move from the corner as that one. The best one before that was a Josh Wolff evasion that led to a goal on the MNT against Mexico. 1:30 mark of the video

I think we all get that you don't like the guy and are not open to liking him - that's totally up to you but it is blinding you to what he brings to the team and what we have transformed into since he and Jack became available for selection.
I think that the map below shows that Frank had touches near Jack - I would rather point out that his presence near Jack's side of the field or Frank passing back to Hernandez while on Jack's side was able to keep the defense honest enough to spring Jack numerous times during the match. I recall Jack only being doubled maybe once or twice on the wing - as opposed to each touch on the wing the last few weeks.

So Saunders rules since he is tied for most clean sheets and we have a good record?
There's a though in the back of mind that if we continue to keep clean sheets (primarily because of our defense, though Saunders doesn't make any horrible mistakes) and we make a deep, deep playoff run, would Vieira keep him as our starting keeper next year?
I think the evidence is that he isn't a player suited to Vieira's style, but that he is a serviceable MLS goalkeeper within certain parameters. Part of the reason he has looked so poor is that his skill set is so ill-suited to what Vieira is looking to do. He has gaffes in his repertoire, but this exacerbates it. Ideally Vieira would want to find someone more comfortable with the ball at their feet, but with the restrictions of the MLS salary cap is that what he'll prioritize? Or will he think he can skate by again? I don't think a deep playoff run will be the actual reason he stays, but it might be used to justify it publicly.
As for a goalie, I think we spend more money than ordinary to find a goalie far outside of MLS who can play well with his feet. I would love to see our taking advantage of our international scouting acumen by finding an in-his-prime goalie for example in CA or SA who is on the level of a Matarrita. I think it's well worth the money (though not DP money) to play Viera's game with a very skilled play starter. No offense to Saunders who does deserve props for improving a skill set he clearly is not well set for.
I was discussing exactly that with Midas this weekend. As I said to him, there is no actual evidence at this point that Saunders will not be back next year, only wishful thinking by most that he will be replaced.
