Might be hopium. Probably PSG and Messi have a deal but it's not signed, just like the Yankees and Judge agreed to terms but it took a week or so to sign the papers. So PSG sources tell Romano something accurate but maybe a tad premature and Miami sources know the PSG deal isn't final but it's still not happening.

Could also be the non-traditional Messi business. We all heard the Nike/Adidas story, but even club deals have left people surprised.

I was in something called the US Soccer Fan Council starting in 2016. I'm pretty sure it was joint MLS/US Soccer. It sent out surveys about once a month. I answered for a year or two then I faded. Checking my gmail archives I've been reinvited once or twice, most recently in 2019. They also seem to have reorganized it at some point and now there's a 5-person elected council and I'm not sure if the survey stuff still happens.

NYCFC had a survey as well in the early years. I don’t think anything good came out of it and like every other fan outreach initiative it went away quick.

NYCFC had a survey as well in the early years. I don’t think anything good came out of it and like every other fan outreach initiative it went away quick.

They got off to a bad start because the first survey had multiple Britishisms. I remember one asked us about the "close season" which means off-season but almost nobody knew that. I mean a lot of people who know lift, lorry, pitch, and nil never had heard of close season.

Then they had a discussion board about the survey but you could not read any posts until you wrote your own so there were dozens of posts that all said "WTF is a close season?" because I guess they wanted everyone's first opinion unaffected by others. So the mods got annoyed and asked people to stop but then everyone wrote a second post saying "I didn't know there were already eleventy dozen posts saying this when I posted because you hid them." Such a minor yet complete and amusing fiasco. It makes me smile to remember. And then it never really took off.
I don't know that it would have worked if they didn't screw up the rollout like that, but it was a completely unforced error.

They didn’t invite me either and I filled out their fan counsel stuff in the past.

Once a website removes the ability to comment, it's no longer a fun place to be.
