Villa (hamstring) and starting centerback Jason Hernandez (quad) were forced out of Thursday’s 1-1 tie against Philadelphia at halftime, and neither practiced at SUNY-Purchase on Saturday. Hernandez is out, and Villa and starting right back Josh Williams, and his backup Shay Facey, are questionable.
Kwame Watson-Siriboe is the likely replacement with Hernandez out. If Villa can’t start, Shelton could get the nod up front alongside Adam Nemec, after getting his first start and first MLS assist playing wide right on Thursday.
Defender Javier Calle, who came off in the 78th minute Thursday with cramping, and midfielder Mix Diskerud — who played for the U.S. National Team Wednesday in San Antonio and suffered an ankle injury vying for a ball in training on Friday — didn’t appear on the injury report.
“I think he’ll be fine. It’s just a little bit of an ankle sprain there in a small-sided game. I think he’ll be fine,’’ Kreis said.
