I am starting to think you just don’t watch Phil Play much. He’s breathtakingly good. Do you think it makes KDB less good because Phil is also amazing? Phil does things he could never pull off, and vice versa. It’s not like a binary thing.

Considering that it took the PL something like 3 months to even award the first retrospective ban for diving, I have little belief that anything will happen here. The thing is, these stories tend to come about when a key player actually has been injured, at which point it becomes less of a subject of debate actually during the games as said player is no longer on the pitch to be targeted. By the time they come back they generally need a few games to get back into their stride and the whole subject is dropped. Unless Sterling or Silva (personal problems excepting) becomes the new automatic target, this topic is likely to be agonised over for a week and then forgotten, just like happens every other time.

I've not seen any, except that it's known that he went back to Spain to deal with a family matter. Given that it's now rumbled on for a month or so I'd say it's either that a parent or close family member is gravely ill and needs a lot of close support/looking after or it's something to do with serious mental illness - something like a depression with risk of suicide. This is all speculation, that said.

There may be more info around but if there is then I haven't seen it, and I do tend to pick up on most stories like this.

Not sure why this interests me so much, but after today/tomorrow, next Premier League matches are 1/13 - 1/15.

If Man City was to win at Liverpool AND Southampton loses at Watford AND Stoke City loses at Man U, Man City is officially clear from relegation with 15 matches left to play.

Big match tomorrow, fellas. Lots of media predicting that if City is going to lose in the league, this is the match. I think it's probably the match in which MC are least favored, but so many variables and so much luck needed to continue unbeaten even if the blues break through at Anfield for the first time since 2003.

I love this match. And I think Pep and Klopp love it, too. I'd argue it's the best top flight match going these days when you consider the ultra positive tactics of both managers. Klopp is the only manager in the world that will really go toe to toe with Pep with basically the same philosophy.

Looking for a great match. Hope it's as fast as the one at Etihad last year. What fun that was.

I made a combined team for kicks and giggles. I know the tendency of MCFC folks ITT and how some can depart from objectivity, so fully expect to see a full MC squad if anyone participates. I really only picked Fernandinho as a defensive pretense. Would prefer to stick Silva there.

I'm sure some would doubt my inclusion of Firmino. But I actually think Pep would choose him over Aguero in his own team. I prefer to include both here, with Bobby actually coming underneath And if you have a problem with that choice, I'd bet you haven't actually watched Bobby for full matches. He's a wrecking ball on both sides, never letting an opponent feel comfortable for a second with or without the ball.

One concession I could be convinced of would be Sane over Mane. Went with Mane for his 1v1 take-ons, otherwise somewhat lacking in my team. Although, in a vacuum, I think I prefer Sane as a player for his passing and vision.

Joe Prince-Wright of NBC Sports said 3-2 to Man City. The last game I saw his preview/prediction video for a Man City game he said 4-0 vs. Bournemouth. Man City won 4-0.

FiveThirtyEight has this game as the least likely Man City to win but they are still favorited. They are favored by 1% more at the away game vs. Tottenham later in the season.

Here's my thoughts. Pep doesn't care about a perfect record, neither does ownership. Winning a quadruple is more important than going undefeated in the Premier League. Man City win, great, it's a win. Man City lose, okay, they're still winning the league.

Hopefully, either way it goes, it will be the match of the season.
