MLS Cup Playoffs - November 2 - Cincinnati (Home)

I wonder if they're trying to pull off an old trick the Mets got caught doing a few years ago?

I forget what year it was, but someone let the cat out of the bag that the Mets would frequently put blocks of tickets on sale at resale sites. I guess the thinking was it's better to sell tickets at a discount and get some sort of revenue rather than have some seats go unsold.

my prediction for this game is we will come out guns blazing. high, aggressive press. on the contrary, cinci will defend in a low block (our nemesis) and counter us to oblivion with long balls into space.

my hope is our guys can figure out the low block and find a win. but i'm thinking cinci will defend deep and make us break them down and take their chances with acosta or orellanos vs martins.

Looks like I'll be arriving early to guarantee a spot in the lot. E lot is so easy for getting out afterwards, so that's a bummer.

Listen, it's been an awful sports week. I would really prefer not to have another elimination tonight. Come on New York

Are we wearing Black, or Blue? We tend to win when I match and vice versa.
I"m wearing blue, the first year shirt if I can find that particular one. Been wearing black with the star most of the season and it's not done all that well.

What a game. The boys played well and Matt freeze was lights out! Honestly I think Mitja earned that start, I don’t think Gray would have put that cross in on the Martinez goal. Haak had a strong game as well. I really appreciate that he is strong enough to be a CB and also has a little nimbleness to him like a DMid. It really worked for him tonight. I think he may earn that spot over Risa too. Really curious to see what Cushing decides to do in game 3. May the Soccer gods allow this NYC team to show up on Saturday instead of last week’s team. I will say Maxi was a touch too slow this game. Passing and directing traffic were on point, but you could tell that he was nursing something or his age is catching up to his speed. Bring it on one last time Cincy!!

Sometimes you need your goalie to be your best player. Thought we were really good tonight, but we needed Freese to be our best player, and he was terrific. Really happy with the win, and hopeful we can get something out of Game 3 in Cincy.

Thiago scoring is hilarious. Weird things happen in the playoffs.

BTW, great crowd tonight. Loud, place was pretty full by our standards, and super invested in the game. Just a delightful -- if a bit chilly -- night in Flushing.

Yes the crowd was great! Really rose to the occasion especially at the end.

Haak and Ilenic gave us great games when we needed them. Santi gave everything for 97+ minutes and won us the pen that sealed it, and then converted it.

It was weird in that the first 20 minutes or so, until the goal, we looked bad. No attacking patterns, no rhythm, Cincy dominated possession and chances. Usually it's the opposite. Then from 20 to about 65 we looked great. Then it got dicey again, mostly desperate defending until about the 85th when we got a second wind and it was just back and forth.

good game.

glad we went out full attack and press, but boy did we look gassed at the end when cinci was putting on the pressure. ilenic and parks especially looked ready to fall over.

lucho going over in a heap then getting up and jogging around like nothing happened when he realized he didn't get a call - that's gotta be a yellow at some point no? it's pathetic.

good fight from the boys. hope cushing decides to go full attack, high press in cinci. go big or go home. we go there to play out of a defensive block again and it won't end well. GO TO WIN. smash them in their stadium.
