Can they appeal this play to the league enough to reverse red so he's not suspended?
Yes

Ref: "That's a red card."
VAR Official: "come look at replay, I don't think so."
Ref: "nah I'm good."
This is literally how VAR works today and is fucking bullshit. Oh, and by the way, if the ref gives him a yellow, even if VAR official says it's a red, it doesn't matter because yellows are not reviewable.
Didn’t make contact. His foot slid right past the NE player’s foot/leg. He didn’t make contact with either leg. The guy went down because his foot was caught under Harrison - if anything, I’m surprised Harrison wasn’t hurt and singing high notes. But was there really a "clear and obvious error?"
Sure you can argue that was a soft red, and you've seen it given as a yellow. But you've also seen it given as a red. He went studs up, straight legged.

So how exactly did that apply to the the player that made contact with Johnson's Head? Here's the rule:
Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force and endangering the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.
The fact that he missed and didn't break the guy's leg in half has no bearing on the call as he clearly endangered the safety of the other player. Red card every day of the week, even if it's not always called.

No we didn’t. We almost got lucky once or twice.we had stretches were we looked dangerous even down a man.
Mrs. TPFKAU, he’s still better than your son.Awuah played 10 minutes this game ha. I'd give it a full game or two before you can actually judge how good he is.
It wasn’t definitely not a red. But a more experienced ref probably gives a yellow there, so as not to kill an important game.Harrison's reaction told me he knew he made a mistake.
As soon as he goes in, he immediately reaches back to apologize, then when the red was shown it almost looked like he was expecting it.
I don't think it's a red, but it did look like Jack thought it was a red.
Also, how this referee doesn't go take another look is beyond puzzling. Why is VAR there if it's not going to be used?
But this is also correct. Multiple nasty fouls and consistent, persistent infringement aren’t a thing against NYC. It’s like everyone we play gets the ManU treatment.A stat recap:
NYCFC had 7 fouls: 1R, 2Y, 4 regular
New England had 16 fouls: 3Y, 13 regular
That’s just not evenly applying discipline. It completely seemed like the NE players got a lot of warnings even when forearms were applied to the back of TMac (twice) on headers and Villa was repeatedly mugged.

I’ve seen the others mentioned play and they’re crap, so this is process of elimination after 10min of liking what I saw. I also commented during the preseason during the first match that Hererra played that he was a better third-piece if the midfield than Pirlo - it took 8-10 games before Vieira came to the same realization.Awuah played 10 minutes this game ha. Except that he didn’t get the leg. In real time and the replay. The other guy went down not from jack’s feet sliding through but because jack’s nuts slammed into the guy’s leg.I didn't get to see much of the game, but I did just happen to be watching when the foul occurred and the card was awarded, and I thought it was a red card - both watching live and after the replay. Maybe that foul isn't always a red, but I think it is more often than not. And it was a stupid, risky challenge from Jack, who seemed frustrated that he had lost the ball on a heavy touch. That said, we might be able to place some blame on the turf. On grass, I think his slide goes farther and faster, and he might get to the ball in time. On turf, his slide checked up considerably, and he was there late, getting the leg and not the ball.
My ultimate question after these past 8 matches is...
Is this the real NYCFC, or just a rut?
Aside from a few studs on the squad, are we really fit to win a bye? Let alone an MLS Cup?

I would argue that we never put in our best XI or set the best bench.
We need someone who can make a play and score a goal when we need one. Lewis can do that.
Well sure, that's probably the definition of a dangerous play, no?jack’s nuts slammed into the guy’s leg.
