NYCFC 2021 Season Discussion

Anyone thinking we're gonna beat RB three times is kidding themselves. Quote me on this when we beat them three times this season, and I'll be happy to be proven wrong here - but there's no way we beat them three times. Rivalry games always throw a wrench into everything.

Red Bull NJ is not a great team for sure but they have ways to get results. We are better but highly inconsistent especially away from YS. These are derbies. I’ll be happy with 5 points. 6 or 7 would be amazing.

They were on track for 6 points until Elfath decided he wasn’t being noticed enough in the second half of the first game.

Parks was severely missed last night.

yea. other than parks, we don't have a player capable of connecting the defense to the offense. Ofori used to be our alternative in that department, but he's long gone. maxi just doesn't have the energy to do it anymore.

I feel like we aren’t talking about how close we are to missing them playoffs. Philly and Atlanta are hot right now. Philly has a game in hand.

At Chicago, vs. Nashville (RBA), at Red Bulls, at Atlanta, vs. DC (RBA/YS), vs. Chicago (RBA/YS), at Miami, vs. Philadelphia (YS)

Currently, this website puts us with an 85% probability of making the playoffs. If we win at Chicago tonight it goes to 91%. If we also win vs. Nashville, it goes to 96%. I think we make the playoffs, but it could be anywhere from 2 to 7.

at this point, if anybody is going to take the team on their back and drag us out of this rut, it's going to be taty. not one of the veteran players... taty.
I understand the sentiment and the pessimism but this team has shown us in the past it can do well and can get out of ruts. It's not like they are far from good players.

i'm not sure it's pessimism or just lack of hope.

i saw on crooks's twitter he talked to ronny and based on the snippet, ronny seems to be blaming the poor results on lack of consistency in the lineups. that's definitely been true for one reason or another lately and something that i think adds to our lack of recent success. but we're supposed to be so "deep" in so many parts of the field. i really think ronny could have and should have made better lineup decisions with the players on hand.

We are somehow favored to beat Nashville.

Nashville +340 feels like an excellent bet to me, if I did that sort of thing

this feels like a disappointing tie where NYCFC blows a lead - better but they still bottle it somehow, like Chanot loses Mukhtar for a goal or something like that.

bad teams find ways to drop points. That is this team’s MO.

Ronney has a lot of excuse quotes. Lineups are inconsistent, the goals will come we have just been unlucky, the calls didn't go our way etc. Personally, I'd like to hear more of the "we must do better" type quotes from him as opposed to always having some justification for a poor result.

I’ve kind of defended Ronny by default in calling out the players but blaming poor results due to lack of consistency rubs me the wrong way.
For one reason or another this team has developed into a dumpster fire. Appropriate that we lost to one of the worst teams in the league who fired their coach the day after they beat NYCFC. The theme here seems to be FIRE, FIRE, FIRE! Who on this earth is going to fix this hot mess of a team right now? That consistency sentiment makes me think it’s not going to be Ronny.
