NYCFC Confirm Departure of PV. Nice Confirm Arrival of PV as Manager.

man.....literally the first press conference after these rumors started when he said he was "committed" i knew he was out

I maintained hope until about 2 pm this afternoon.

I don't think it's a massive loss. I actually think it's a good thing in the long run for our club - much like Jack's sale.

But the grass isn't always greener.

Yeah OK, so he's no longer denying it. Remember as recently as a week ago when he was making fun of the reports? He's not doing that anymore. So he's gone. My post from above remains. Why is he coaching this team on Saturday when he's out the door? Embarrassing for the organization. If he wants to leave, cut him loose. No need to drain every last bit of juice out of that orange. He doesn't want to be here anymore, let him leave today.

there is no one to coach...since all assistants seem to be gone minus GK coach maybe. I guess you could put the GK coach out there like he did when they played against PR national team

The team shouldn't be caught with its pants down over this. These rumors started over a month ago when Wenger announced he was leaving, and they've been going full tilt for 2-3 weeks now with Nice. If this is taking them by surprise, they're fools. They knew this was a possibility, and they should at least have been compiling names and be ready to start interviewing.

dont think its taking them by surprise, im sure they have names in mind from get go. i guess it depends who is available/ wants to come from that list.

i do wish this was done sooner to have some games under new coach belt before the WC break

I guess that MLS coaching 3.0 is not a bad look for the league getting Tatas (hey now!) and grooming coaches like PV and JM for top tier Euro jobs, instead of the MLS lifer types.

For weeks, a coach denies rumors that he is heading to manage in a top European league. He coaches his team against its rival in the U.S. Open Cup. When asked after the game, he no longer makes a denial but just says he won't talk about it. Rumors intensify that he is leaving after the next game.

This is true of two coaches. Patrick Vieira and Jesse Marsch.

This is undoubtedly correct. I am sure CFG studied the situation even before the season began and made appropriate plans. It is a major organization that knows to be prepared for anything. They would have a short list of options and be ready to move quickly.

The question is how quickly can they pull the trigger and bring someone in. If it is a current NYC assistant (seems increasingly unlikely) or someone from within CFG, that should be easy. If they have eyes outside CFG, that may take time to implement, but my guess is they can get it done by 6/24 vs. Toronto.

You’re talking about the same org that panic-bought Maxi and had conflicting statements about Lampard. They’re a major organization with equally major disfunction.

If CFG is running the coaching search, perhaps you're right. If NYCFC is running the search, who knows what's happening in the office today. It's probably complete chaos.
