I'd like to add on to this though, that perhaps the amount of time they've had to plan results in an interim manager for the rest of the season as the target they've identified to bring in full time won't be available until the winter.

If we’re going completely/locally internal for an interim coach, meaning from within NYCFC and not CFG/MCFC, then it’d be Matt Pilkington, the U19 Head Coach (holds USSF A/B/C licenses along with an English FA license). He’s had the A since 2008 and is already tasked with the development of our top academy players in the “city way” - could see him getting a shot to step up for 6months if the team hasn’t secured a big name/permanent coach.
And when I say “step up,” I don’t mean in a permanent capacity, but a testing ground for him to continue gaining experience. In many ways though, it’s not a different position from Vieira coming from from MCFC’s EDS.

It's interesting that he's informed his direct reports but not his players and his staff.
CFG: Interim coach? Easy, just give the job to an assistant.
