Official 2016 Nycfc Roster Discussion Thread

Awesome........now let's whistle out of the room, and pretend that we had it the whole time before someone notices. Now if only the league could find a mystery DP slot for us as well. That would be nice.

All due respect, that's not true at all. The NFL is cryptic, but the NBA, NHL, and MLB are all generally very open and descriptive about injuries. NHL stops being descriptive during the playoffs, but -- for example -- the NY Rangers give complete injury information all the time. NBA teams are painfully specific regarding injury updates, as are MLB teams. They all give specific timetables on almost all injuries, unless they simply don't know.

This is an NYCFC thing. Perhaps it's an MLS thing. If it is, I do believe the team and the league should be more open. By the way, this isn't a mellennial thing for me -- I work in journalism, I believe in open information.
It's a CFG thing.

IF Harrison was worthy of being the #1 overall pick
AND
IF Harrison comes back fully healthy
THEN
I don't really care if he misses the whole season. I am excited to see him. But if he's the same player next year that we would have been this year, you are drafting a kid for his ability to play the next 10 years...not just one when he is 19 years old.

I would be surprised if the amount of TAM we received is significant. This was likely a case of it being more beneficial for us to clear his salary cap hit than anything else - and with that we aren't releasing him for nothing, so a token offering of TAM was made. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but because of the restrictions to its use, TAM is less valuable/useful than GAM, correct? If so, this could be a $50K bone they threw for him.

Maybe this trade included an international spot that we won't find out about until July

Yeah, this seems logical, especially as we were all asking ourselves where we were going to be getting those slots from and whether we were going to be making any early trades for them.
