I meant Maccabi Haifa. I think?

That's an entirely different city. But there is a maccabi tel Aviv and heopel tel Aviv. And a maccabi Haifa that just won their championship.

I couldn't tell you the club name for $1,000,000, but I have high certainty the city was Tel Aviv, which I don't think is helpful, but I'll throw it out there just in case.

I'll try to google through the Hebrew language articles to find mention. If anyone else wants to try it Poku should be spelled פוקו, then just google translate the rest.

Meh, all the live articles I can access mention NYCFC and Poku. There was a mention of him and maccabi Tel Aviv, but when I clicked it was a dead link...

Edited to redirect traffic to Ulrich Ulrich 's post below which summarizes it correctly.

Is it a relevant brag that I played on a medal winning soccer team in the Int'l Junior Maccabi games?

I'm pretty sure it was a link (or Twitter account) for Maccabi Haifa and unlinked text for Heopel Tel Aviv. Seemed odd to me that only one was linked but maybe the other was simply misspelled & no auto-suggestion came up for the tweeter so they left it unlinked. Dunno. But I did read it as two separate teams were interested. Makes sense if somebody is shopping him to one Israeli team, why not multiple, especially since that recent article on the American playing over there touched on these same two teams having interest in him when he was available.

Is the Israeli transfer window open now (late closing like MLS), or this would have to be a summer transfer for them?

Summer transfer. Same as Europe (they play in champions league). And Maccabi Haifa just won the title. image.png

Where he hell are the vowels under the letters? If I tried to read that stuff without them, I'd sound like a special kid with my phonetic pronunciation.

Haha! The vowels (nikudot) are dropped for normal purposes. Would be a pain in the ass to add them all in. You get used to it.

So why'd I have to learn them as a kid if they aren't used in normal life? Nikudot is like Latin, it exists for scholars and kids in Hebrew School (Latin - high school) but nobody really uses it in everyday pop culture.

Looks like we are chasing down a young defender from PSG, Presnel Kimpembe, although it looks like it would be a summer deal.

To follow up on this... and that link doesn't work anymore because we changed the name of the blog. Here's the updated link.

Vieira wanted Kimpembe but PSG did not want to loan him out midseason, they were open to a summer loan for him. Well PSG's season is over and Kimpembe doesn't know what he wants to do yet. He'll likely go on loan but it also relates to his contract expiring in 2018, he may just ask for a permanent transfer depending on what happens, he's currently 4th on the CB depth chart.

The latest reports have 3 French clubs and a Turkish club pursuing him so barring a bizarre choice to loan him to a defensively poor MLS side over 3 fellow Ligue 1 sides or a top Turkish side, we're all but out of this race.

I wonder if we'll get a look at Anthony Koura though.

Why Anthony Koura specifically? Also do you hear any whispers about signing a defender?
Anthony Koura had been floated as a MCFC signing with a loan to NYCFC last winter. Now he's getting interest from other Premier League clubs.

Nothing on defenders, it's pretty quiet right now. NYCFC is getting better at keeping internal things internal for now. But given everything I've heard I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign a GK at some point.

Realistically, do you think they would look internally in MLS for a solution? Inside of CFG for a solution? Abroad?
