Patrick Vieira Appointed As NYCFC Coach

You just read the circle of people the new manager moves in,and what esteem cfg hold him in.
What's hard to understand about that ?

I think that's pushing it a little far. He was involved in that photo because he's a high-profile individual who the Chinese President would have heard of. This is not the kind of society he usually frequents, it was a total one-off.

Anyway, as Dan said, let's keep this focused on Vieira and NYCFC and move it away from CFG. We've had enough CFG talk on this forum and in this thread, and it's not really assisting the discussion.

Obviously not the prime minister's but the others on a daily/weekly basis.
Just trying to show how highly rated, high profile he is.
Hope this translates into being a successful manager

I know I haven't been posting a lot lately but I couldn't turn away from this bit of news.

First and foremost, as an Arsenal supporter and fan of what Viera has done as a player, I'm extremely excited about his appointment as head coach. He was always a very headstrong player as well as a great captain and leader. His role as a youth development coach with Man City will only strengthen the bond between NYCFC and their "poaching" of City youth development players. I think that while he's unproven as a coach, this is a great stepping stone for him on his way to be a better one. I don't think (as some have suggested) that he's even close to becoming Man City's manager so I honestly wouldn't worry about that connection. City have way bigger guys in their sights for whoever will eventually replace Pelligrini.

When Kreis was coming in as NYCFC manager there were a series of videos that showcased his trip to Manchester to adapt to the "city way" of doing things. Viera was featured in at least one of these videos where he seemed to be mentoring Kreis in a way. I think Viera is better suited for what this regime ultimately wants from this family of teams. Hopefully we'll see a lot of progress next season and I think we have a decent enough foundation for that to happen. I also believe he will garner a ton of respect from the players, young and old. Let's wait and see what happens and get behind the team. There's only one way to go from here. I'm excited.

That is unfortunate. Do they rate facey higher?
I don't think with the options available at city facey will make it weather he drops down the leagues or comes back here I don't know.
Angelina I think will stand a chance but as you guys know he will never ever make a left back .maybe a gareth bale type role ?

The greatest takeaway from Part 2 of the interview is (which is no surprise) his commitment to making the kids an important part of the team. It will be so refreshing to have a coach who has no reservations about developing AND PLAYING young players like Poku and Mullins, and whoever the new crop are or may be this season and beyond. Having 3 superstar DPs like we do coupled now with a coach who takes pride in developing young talent should provide an optimal system for teaching and developing our future core over the next few years. I like it.

That and has no bias based on players he coached and had to sign to higher contract and feel the need to prove himself right.

Another thing is if there's a potential DP out there he wants, the suits are more likely to listen to him. And I don't think he'd request some 38 yr old guy either.

The season after this next one fills me with trepidation. We will have somewhat passed the need for super huge names to get our club off the ground in terms of fans filling the seats. But we are going to want to win, a lot. Are we going to get way younger guys or people who have to show something to get back into top clubs or just keep up the tradition of super big names.

Just relax, man. As the Good Book says, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own."

Also, I'll recommend Rittenhouse rye, this vermouth http://www.martinezlacuesta.com/en/wines/vermut, bitter truth old fashioned bitters and Tillen Farms bada Bing cherries.

Get one of those big rocks ice trays, a nice jigger and cocktail stir spoon and an appreciation for drinking your mistakes. Pro-tip: if it tastes off, add whiskey.

The only recipe for drinking away a situation is whiskey & ice, everything else is distraction - Me

That's a little head on. Doing it your way might be mistaken for a problem. If you do it my way, it's a hobby.

A good old fashioned/manhatten is simply another way of saying, can I please have a large glass of Burbon in a manner that does not make me look completely like an alcoholic.

Thanks for the tip on those bitters Midas, I grabbed some today and they are pretty darn nice.

I'm not entirely sure that I will agree with you about Rye, but that's my problem with Rye in general. Guess I'll have to give it a shot next time I go to loreli's.
