He's playing like a DP, and I'm fine with him continuing to be one. He's one of the best No. 10's in the league.
He's not wrong that Castellanos sold it. The guy flops his head back theatrically. It's a debatable penalty, but there's no debate that Castellanos flopped on it.
Meaning the tweeting about it. Lots of players disagree with calls without social media sour grapes.

Yes. But he’s getting older and we can’t pay on past production in a capped league. I’m a fan of too many teams who have made that mistake. Pay Maxi based on what other teams in the world will pay a 33-35 year old 5’4” CAM. With no transfer fee, we should be able to slot him into a TAM spot and still pay him nicely.

I would argue we're not paying for past production, we're paying for current production. He's on pace for 12 goals and 25 assists. I'd have no problem signing him to another 2-year DP deal.
Bedoya has always had a reputation of a hothead on the field and a hothead on Twitter. He’s neither good enough to back it up on the field nor bright enough to know when to keep his mouth shut - I’m sure the league loves reading his tweets.

The IFAB laws state that if medical personnel comes onto the field to treat a player, the player has to come off the field. The player didn't want the medical personnel to come on but the referee signaled them to come on. Still, the player has to come off.
Also Bedoya straight up cursed out the AR1 for a call. He's not a nice man.
So the player comes off for 3 seconds and gets waved on -- why do we care? This is your determination about whether a ref is bad or biased? Guys come off and barely even wait for the game to restart before walking back on. It's a generally needless and inconsequential rule.
Maxi is currently making $2mm from his contract when he was 30. Maximum TAM this season is $1.53mm. Can he make more than that on the open market at 33? Is it worth it to him to take that amount if he’s happy in NY? Shouldn’t we start to expect a drop in his production over the next few years, and pay him according to those projections, not his current 2019 numbers? If we can’t sign him as a TAM player, is there another player out there that’s can give us similar production as a TAM we can sign. Or better production as a DP and maybe younger? Do we want to sign a 33 year old to a guaranteed contract in a salary capped league for more than a season, especially if they are not a box office draw?
These are the questions I would hope out FO asks. And not just re-sign him as a DP for a few more years because he’s putting up good numbers this season.
Yep, after 32 the calculus must be for not just current ability/production, but also forecast production with expected drop off. It’s one thing to give minimum-contract guys a bump for over-performing their contracts since they’re young, serviceable off the bench at worst, and have room to grow, but once over 32 the seasoned vets are looking at a slide more often than not, and that’s at a high salary so can’t mess up writing/offering the contract.
Maxi's salary may end up being addressed by its length. They could tack on an extra year and bring the average down to $1.53 million or below.

True but another potential problem may be In future when he doesn’t get 50/50 calls because he called out the refs in his tweets.
That 4th goal was primo 2017 NYCFC. Love the short passing schemes that are getting us a ton of goals at the top of the 18.

Someone earlier mentioned it was the best combination play we’ve had. I agree. My son and I were watching on an iPad and I even tried to explain to him what combination play is. He’s 5 so I think we’ll need to revisit it in the future.
Give him a larger signing bonus and then it’s cheaper to buy him out in later years. NFL style.
