So this team is named Queensboro FC. There is already a youth club named Queensborough FC and is a direct competitor to the DV7 Academy in Queens. Is that legally ok?

They use "Queens United," "Queensborough United SC," and "QUSC."
I would say Queensboro FC and QBFC are the best bets to get through the USPTO.
The youth club also never registered with the USPTO. That doesn't mean they don't have any trademark rights, but they would have to take legal action to protect them and the USL filings should sail thru.
I'll totally get season tickets but only if it comes with a Smokey-the-Bear-style park ranger hat.
