Don't eff with history. Watch them in release order. Record his reaction to the reveal at the end of Empire. My daughter's jaw fell on the floor. If you watch in episode order the best moment in all 9 [11?] movies is wasted. My 7 year old wants to watch the Star Wars movies. I haven’t seen most of the newer generation ones. Any thoughts on the order he should watch? Some have said release order, others have said episode order. Also, are there any content concerns for a kid in later versions that play into the best order?
This is great, will do, and thanks MG.Don't eff with history. Watch them in release order. Record his reaction to the reveal at the end of Empire. My daughter's jaw fell on the floor. If you watch in episode order the best moment in all 9 [11?] movies is wasted.
I also think Eps 4-6 are slightly more kid friendly than Eps 1-3 which followed so that also argues in favor of the release order. Eps 1-3 aren't filled with sex or worse language, or violence. They're just less fundamental good/evil stories and I think kids respond more directly to those. The story arc in 1-3 is complicated, not necessarily in a good way, and ends up with a war where there's no reason to root for either side because they were both manipulated by the same guy and the stormtroopers are fighting for the side with the Jedi for a while at least. Don't start him with that mess.
I might skip Rogue One for a seven year old, although personally I think that might be the best of them all judged strictly as a movie and not simply as part of the Star Wars canon. Tons of action, a lot of it brutal, and somewhat of an intense outcome. Might skip 3 for similar reasons, now that I think of it. I'd probably start with 4, 5, and 6.My 7 year old wants to watch the Star Wars movies. I haven’t seen most of the newer generation ones. Any thoughts on the order he should watch? I agree with this 100%. I recorded my two older kids watching the big reveal in Episode V, and it remains the single most entertaining video from their early childhood.Don't eff with history. I think the machete order makes a lot of sense, but less so for kids. Frankly, a kid (or anybody) wouldn't lose by watching Eps 4-9 in that order and never seeing 1-3. For all the problems of 7-9, they don't have the issue of 1-3 which is that 1-3 is just backstory.4, 5, 2, 3, 6
Elaborately justified at the link below. I haven't tried it but it tracks.

Mr. Robot series finale was last night - holy fucking cow, what a ride the entire show was - can't recommend it enough
I thought there was a steep decline after the first 2 seasons.
In the final season, sometimes virtually nothing will happen for a full 5 minutes. There’s slow burn. Mad Men perfected slow burn. But Mr.Robot went too far.
Anyone watch The Witcher ? I enjoyed it. It never quite hits Thrones at it's best level but hopefully it won't fall off the cliff like Thrones at the end either.
Yes! Pretty pumped for the rest of the season and like the fact that it's a mini-series. So much more contained and focused than multi-season shows sometimes. Not Amazon or Netflix but has anyone seen The Outsider on HBO? Just watched the first two episodes (3rd episode is this Sunday) and wow I’m hooked.
