So who starts at GK in the playoffs?

Who starts for us between the sticks?

From the press conference video, Vieira's grin after that question is asked is his only response to the answer as he then pivots to talking about other players.

The answer above may depend upon whether you are predicting what Coach V will do or whether you are giving your own preference.

I think it is slightly more likely that he will go with Saunders. He went with him the first 33 games for a reason, and it seems unlikely that he will make a change for the playoffs. I think he will value continuity, and unless he thinks EJ is solidly ahead, he will stick with Josh.

For me, I would give EJ a slight nod, but I think it is a lot closer than others here do.

I've also learned that Eirik's girlfriend came to the states for the first time this weekend so she could see him (play). Maybe that's why he got the nod to start.

He should tell his girlfriend to stay in the country until December then move here permanently in February 2017.

Unless ...

One interpretation that might make sense is that Josh did or said something in game or practice that caused PV to believe he had lost his confidence. (I know, Saunders haters, cue laugh track.)

But seriously, I wonder if he had a look him in the eye moment after DC and something looked different to him than it looked earlier in the season.

If that look stays in his eye, maybe PV has the reason he needs to stick with EJ.

I think there's no way Saunders doesn't start all the remaining games.

The Big Goalie did well and seemed to me he saved a couple of shots ol' flappy would have let in, but I think we're stuck with Josh at least til the end of the season.

Effect rather than cause, I'd guess. I doubt that Vieira would be so sentimental that he would decide his goalkeepers for a crucial game which decides his team's play-off fate based on one of their girlfriends happening to be in the stadium.

I'd have to agree with people that my gut says Calamity Saunders goes back between the sticks for the next game, though I do hope that Lurch gets the nod instead.

But the French are known for romance...

Has anyone noticed you changed your crest ??

Well, we're playing 2 legs. So, another question might be posed:

If Saunders starts the first game and has a major gaff, win or lose, does Eirik start the second leg at home?

The question is moot.

Don't see him starting in the playoffs. It would defy all logic. Start Saunders all year but 1 game and he loses the job.
I'd actually feel bad for Saunders at that point. I don't see PV starting Eirik unless he shits the bed in the first leg.
