Seriously, what are the odds that this whole elevator company idea is really in the works? Is it possible that we are in negotiations, and everything could be close to settled relatively soon, they just don't want to leak it like last time?

If they end up giving the GAL owners the money they want sure. CFG said they would pay for the relocation and building of the new factory.

It just seems so logical but we just don't know how insane the GAL asking price is. Add my name to the people finding it easy to get to the Bronx. In my case via Metro North from CT , so I'd be thrilled if they end up rather nearby to Yankee Stadium.

The stadium needs to be next to Yankee Stadium. There are too many synergies between the operations of the two teams in terms of retail, food, etc. that require them to be close by.
If NYCFC draws well at YS then the local community could become an advantage for us. The bars, food spots, and merch sellers wouldn't want to lose all that foot traffic.

The area around YS is an ideal location. My personal preference would be LIC. Its an even more central location for the entire city and surrounding suburbs. But YS has the expressway, subway, metronorth, bars, and restarants all nearby that fans would want next to a stadium.

While I don't think they will end up in the Bx, the local area businesses will definitely want then to stay.

I feel that playing at Yankee Stadium for several years will indirectly showcase how well it does at that location. After such years there will have bred a sense of culture and identity in the borough which will inevitably get a deal done next to the stadium.

As a bronxite, bronxian, guy who lives there ... I'd love to see more NYCFC stuff around - I have stuck all of my stickers around the bronx and nearby bit of harlem as i ride around town but rarely (until I get close to a pub partner, or the stadium) do I see NYCFC stuff around. I'm not saying the club needs more billboards - but one near the stadium would be good, - but we need to do more guerilla marketing for the club in the bx ... this has nothing to do with the stadium really, except I think it will take us in and around the bronx to foster this culture and more stickers on the streets and bus things can't hurt.

I am just going to say this. Mind you it's been a few weeks since the last away game but did anyone else notice the commercials for the Casino over at Aqueduct that aired during that match? Just saying something to watch for during the Philly match on YES. It leads me to believe that Aqueduct is where they are going.

That's a bit of a stretch. I think it's more target marketing by them. Predominantly, affluent, male, geographically targeted demographic at a fairly inexpensive cost.

CFG should just throw an obscene amount of money at the city for a piece of Central Park and build the stadium there. I'm a huge fan of public spaces/parks and use them regularly, but outside of a dozen days a year where it happens to a weekend/holiday and the weather is perfect, the huge city parks are very much underutilized. Even if an NYCFC game were happening on one of those days, people would still be able to enjoy the other 95% of the park like they always do, completely unaffected.

By the way, I know that there is almost 0% chance of this happening, but I think that it benefits all parties involved without hurting the general public that has no direct interest either.

Were there commercials for Aqueduct? I thought that the Yonkers casino, "Empire City", was a sponsor.

If thinking this would be awful makes me a NIMBY, then by god I'm a NIMBY. That is something I'd expect to see in a dystopic scifi novel where the Financial District is underwater.

Haha, and that's why it will probably never happen. Because the people who live across the street from Central Park are the most influential type of NIMBY.

I just think that you could add a modest stadium and not "ruin" Central Park and might even improve it in some senses, much like how Soldier Field is a (positive, I think) part of the museum/park area along the Chicago waterfront.
