Zero. Zilch. Nada. Nope. Nein. Negatory.Balotelli on the outs at Liverpool. On a scale of 1-10, how excited would you be to see him at NYCFC?
I would guess they share a common experience with discrimination. Albeit in different ways, they are both from a less accepted geography and ethnicity from what is considered proper "Italian".In all serious though, Pirlo really likes him. Maybe his presence can help keep Balo in check...

I think Marios problem here could be the physicality. I could see him getting very upset and committing bad fouls and getting a lot of cards. Take a look at Villa, he has conformed to the league and absorbs a lot of punishment. But just like you saw in his goal today he gives it back, uses his body and creates space. I just don't see Balo willing to sacrifice when he gets here. Can see him rolling around a lot not receiving calls.
It would be nice to have some physicality up front. He is definitely a strong guy.
Villa / Mario / Harrison would be an interesting attacking trio.
Idk. I like Mario. He's a unique dude. Most of the negatives he receives are justified, but the guy has been heckled & shit talked a lot from fans and players cause he's a black Italian. I guess I'd be a bit of a dick too. I do think Viera could be a mentor for him...but as much as I'd love to see him here, too many Alphas on this team. We don't have the money to compete with the CSL for him anyway. All the types of players that MLS should have been getting now, have been looking that way for that coin.
Agreed. Only way I can see it working is forcing Mario out of position and playing out wide in place of TMac and playing up top when Villa is unavailable. Why are even talking about adding a ST, our best player leads the league in goals, why on earth would you be willing to push Villa out wide with the way things are currently going?

With that line, you have to hope things go well because if they start to tailspin the team winds up playing two men down with both pouting and sulking. My sanity can't handle watching two of our three forwards meltdown when a Pro ref blows every callVilla played wide his whole career till joining us and playing up top because no one else could (once we realized Nemec wasn't going to) and to his credit he's played amazing there since. But, this is not about individual accomplishments, it's about what's best for the team. "Villa - Balo - Jack (VBJ)" may mean less goals for Villa then "Tmac-Villa-Jack (TVJ)", but I would wager it would mean more goals for the team overall and maybe the most dangerous front line the MLS has ever seen.
