Summer Transfer Window

In all serious though, Pirlo really likes him. Maybe his presence can help keep Balo in check...

I would guess they share a common experience with discrimination. Albeit in different ways, they are both from a less accepted geography and ethnicity from what is considered proper "Italian".

Honestly, it also makes some of the "I'm Italian, like Pirlo" stuff hold a high level of unintentional humor.

Hi guys first post on here been reading from afar past few days, I personally think Mario in the MLS would be great move for him. Like Giovinco hopefully he could be a star in a smaller league (no offence!) and rebuild his deteriorated reputation on the pitch.

As a City fan I amongst many loved having at the club he was pure entertainment and it was obvious he had an affinity with our fans & club. Might be the last roll of the dice with Super Mario, but with his former team mates Patrick V & Pirlo giving invaluable guidance - it could potentially suit both NYC and the crazy maverick Balo both down to the ground. Hope he rekindles his career anyway for his sake which doesn't appear to be in England or Italy for sure, he's a really nice guy despite all the stories you read in the papers. It's clear as day he needs plenty of TLC; otherwise you'll get next to no end product from him.

P.S. Congrats on your current position in the table Vieira seems to be doing a fantastic job, hope your form continues!

I think Marios problem here could be the physicality. I could see him getting very upset and committing bad fouls and getting a lot of cards. Take a look at Villa, he has conformed to the league and absorbs a lot of punishment. But just like you saw in his goal today he gives it back, uses his body and creates space. I just don't see Balo willing to sacrifice when he gets here. Can see him rolling around a lot not receiving calls.

It would be nice to have some physicality up front. He is definitely a strong guy.

Villa / Mario / Harrison would be an interesting attacking trio.

Idk. I like Mario. He's a unique dude. Most of the negatives he receives are justified, but the guy has been heckled & shit talked a lot from fans and players cause he's a black Italian. I guess I'd be a bit of a dick too. I do think Viera could be a mentor for him...but as much as I'd love to see him here, too many Alphas on this team. We don't have the money to compete with the CSL for him anyway. All the types of players that MLS should have been getting now, have been looking that way for that coin.

Black Jewish Italian. Poor guy was probably the butt of every joke as a kid. I'll take him here and show him a warm welcome! Oh and if any intern is reading, I'd also buy his jersey in a heartbeat. He'd easily be a top 10 seller in the MLS. Now go get Mix suspended for failing a drug test after enjoying Canadian values in Montreal, so his salary is off the books (that is the reason he was brought along) and go sign Balo!

Would love to see Mario play here. He's one of those players that fans have a lot of negativity around, but would jump to support him if there were a legitimate chance in acquiring. Which DP to drop, Lampard? Garber changes rules to add 4th DP a la "Galaxy"?

Why are even talking about adding a ST, our best player leads the league in goals, why on earth would you be willing to push Villa out wide with the way things are currently going?
Agreed. Only way I can see it working is forcing Mario out of position and playing out wide in place of TMac and playing up top when Villa is unavailable.

Love Mario. Always love a nutter if there's talent to match. Entertainment value on and off the pitch. That being said we do currently in Villa, Lamps, and Harrison have 3 players who look capable of scoring regularly so I'm not sure I'd make this move other a keeper or more D or D Mid help.

Villa played wide his whole career till joining us and playing up top because no one else could (once we realized Nemec wasn't going to) and to his credit he's played amazing there since. But, this is not about individual accomplishments, it's about what's best for the team. "Villa - Balo - Jack (VBJ)" may mean less goals for Villa then "Tmac-Villa-Jack (TVJ)", but I would wager it would mean more goals for the team overall and maybe the most dangerous front line the MLS has ever seen.

I think the female Mendoza line is at play here. You can take a crazy chick if her hotness is off the charts.

You can take a crazy player if his talent is off the charts. Are we even sure Mario has it anymore?

With that line, you have to hope things go well because if they start to tailspin the team winds up playing two men down with both pouting and sulking. My sanity can't handle watching two of our three forwards meltdown when a Pro ref blows every call

True, but that's never stopped CFG before.

Butts in the seats and an all but guaranteed 4th jersey in the leagues top 10 sales probably weighs just as much as a new CB.
