Well, 2-2 exactly in line with my honest prediction, while falling short of my wish fulfillment 4-2 prediction. Mostly feeling good about this even though being even and a man up with 30+ minutes to go makes you hunger for more.

Hazard looked dangerous and we couldn't really get in the groove after Montero was taken off. He was man of the match for me.
The copper striped uniforms look better on the field than on a mannequin. I still like the black lines contrasted to the white shirt but with this sponsor logo the all gold (they call it copper but it's basically gold to me) works well. I thought it would be too much but it's not. The only thing I didn't much care for were the dark socks which I presume we had to wear because Chelsea wore white socks.

I was wondering about that. They didn't seem to match the rest of our kit. Nor did I remember on the original kit pictures.
What did you think of that Golazo by Ayew?
Is Montero just too small and too active to play a full game? He usually subs and when he does start like today he often gets subbed off.

No, he just uses most of his boundless energy early on. He's had slight injury problems in the past and his cramps led to him removal from the game. I believe it was merely a cautious managerial move.
Did you happen to see how Ki was injured? I was listening to the game on talk sport for the first half and missed the injury thanks to buffering.
I'm pretty sure every piece of clothing has to contrast, or at least it's in the referee's discretion to require it to make it easier to distinguish who's who in a mass of bodies. So if Chelsea wants to wear white socks with blue uniforms that's their prerogative as the home team, and Swansea has to adjust item by item as necessary.
Ayew's goal was quality. And it came of Gomis's best attempt of the game. He frustrated me today, and I have not been one of his detractors overall. He wasted 2-3 chances where he did basically nothing and then was offsides needlessly on the would be game winner.
No missed it - doing some chores and so was in and out of the game myself. I've got it recorded so I can go back and see what happened.
So Ki just made a run with the ball straight up the middle of the field and pulled up lame. Nobody hit him, and he didn't trip or anything. Apparent pulled hamstring.

Gomis played very well today. His movement frustrated the Chelsea defenders. If he can get his timing down so that he isn't offsides all the time he'll be dangerously good.
Gomis and Ayew scored, but it's a toss-up between Jonjo and Montero for MOTM. Those two ran the game for us. Newcastle played with 10 men after two yellows somewhere between 30-40 minutes, when we were already up 1-0. We dominated more than the score suggests.
I don't get Gomis's crawl celebration. It looks like poor swimming form but apparently it's supposed to be a lion. At least he keeps his shirt on and doesn't collect yellows.

I like his celebration because it's something unique to him and only him. I've never seen another player attempt it before.
Was Ayew playing well throughout the match?
He came out after 70 minutes. Must have been a tactical sub as he wasn't hurt and didn't seem winded. I'd rate him highly.
