They have various "Beers of the World" stations which have a decent selection. So how's the food and beer selection at YS? If it's anything like MSG, I will be very happy.

Totally blows that they're not putting the New Haven line to YS. Costs extra. This is a little unclear. There will be direct (local) metro north trains stopping at Yankee stadium on the Hudson line. And the MTA has said that they will be adding extra trains before and after the game to this route as they do for Yankee games. what they aren't doing is sending some of the trains on the New Haven line to Yankee Stadium as well.

Is this a little over 5 miles from Yankee stadium or is it closer? (I like to be able to walk to the stadium and five miles is a bit much for me.)
I'm sure they'll at least have heineken now? dat shock top raspberry is always good for the summer too (okay make fun of me lol)I usually grab 2 hot dogs and water for $5 outside the stadium. I don't open the water bottle so that I can bring it in with me. Regarding beer, Yankee Stadium has one of the worst selections of beer out of every baseball stadium. The Washington Post actually did an article on beers at every stadium and the Yankees were almost last in every category. Don't expect any local beers, they are all Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors.
Yes, a very small one (I think the dimensions are 16 x 16 inch). Can we bring in a backpack? Or is that a terrorist threat?

16" x 16" x 8" max (unless a Yankee fan based on experience tells you differently)
Regarding beer, I echo the recommendation to find a "Beers of the World" station. It has a decent selection, but pricey at $12/pint. Plenty of beer everywhere else, but it's all mass market American swill, except for the occasional Heineken here and there.
Food runs the same way. Lot's of fried stuff at inflated prices. There are a few decent options, but you have to look for them. The Lobells stand has a really good Philly Cheesesteak. There is a sushi bar that is better than you'd expect.
Overall, food and beer are really disappointing given the venue. The best bet is to plan ahead. Go to the Yankee website and find a map of the amenities. Figure out where the best spots are relative to your seats.

You can go anywhere in the stadium to get food and drinksGreat tips, dudes. One more question. I'm in 236. It sounds like the cheesesteaks at Lobels are something I should try. The nearest one to my section is in 134. Can I get to that stand? Or do you have to be sitting in the 100s?

Oh damn... Looks worth it, though...At yankee games there is always a solid line at Lobels, they set up the line like at an amusement park with you just weaving back and forth...
