I'm another Southern Westchester (New Roc!) guy who agrees with this post whole-heartedly. The odd thing for me is that getting to Yankee Stadium can take an hour, but getting home takes 20 minutes tops. I probably need to stop taking 95/Hutch and just drive across to 87.

Yes. This will cut your time considerably. We can get right on the Cross County from where I live, so it's easy.

Just for fun, here's the Hudson Yards site from my office window:

That's looking north at the site. It goes from 12th on the left to 11th on the right, and from 30th to 34th (bottom to top). The tracks go from 31st to 33rd.

is this site even plausible now? i mean didnt the high line extend to surround those yards? ( i havent been there since the expansion). I mean that project just finished and i assume no way it gets destroyed or modified heavily in any new project in that area.

Alas, no longer plausible as they're going to build out the whole site over the years. Here's the plans:

Yep, after the Jets/Olympic Stadium was a no-go, this plan was put into action.

I guess we can hope that the developer runs out of money during phase 1, allowing us to build a stadium on the western half (if that's even big enough).

What's funny is that you can actually see the footprint of a stadium in the picture. Great shot.

I think your photo shows the "Western Yard" - which hasn't started being built yet. Work is well along on the Eastern Yard, which is also being leased up and should be largely done in a couple of years. Not sure about timing on the Western Yard, whether it could be converted to another use, or if it's big enough for a stadium.

If you rotate the stadium 90 degrees, you can make that thing so fucking huge within the boarder of the street/highline
I did that to see how it looked. It's at work though so I'll post it tomorrow. It fits and there's plenty of room for expansion. I posted this one because I figured the sun angles would be better but it works either way.

Stop teasing yourselves. That ship has long sailed since the Jets/ Giants couldn't get it done. Hudson Yards is all accounted for. No way a stadium is being put in Manhattan under 125th St unless it is Pier 40 - which is also pie in the sky.

The Jets could opt out of their lease in 2020. Maybe the Jets couldn't get a stadium, but what if the NFL and MLS lobbied together for a stadium which was privately funded?
