oh, I see. I park in that small area between the red subway station and Ruppert. How much is 153rd? Ruppert is 45 (absolute ripoff), the one I park in is $30.
I’m not sure. I get a parking pass included in my Delta ticket price. I think 153rd is $30-something for a game.
153rd is fucking $40 now...

and the majority of it (like the top roof level) is filled with repo'd cars and an overflow lot for livery cars

Did not expect they raised it to $40. I knew about all the long term parking there. They'd direct you to the roof parking on a game day with low attendance because parts of it were crumbling and the rest was filled with what you described.

yeah - when I was there on Sunday I wanted to tailgate up there, but they didn't let us go past the 2nd level, so we had to walk to the 4th/roof just to have some beers in the sun

That's cool. I've been parking in Ali's lot, which is across the Metro North Station. It is also $30. I might have to try yours.

Is that actually the GAL parking lot for it's employees? What's the easiest way in?
Are you sure we're not talking about the same place? lol. I have no idea where Ali's lot is. But "across the metro north station" sounds like we're talking about the same, if not similar, place?
It's not a garage, but rather a single parking lot that they park cars one in front of the other. It's generally quick to get out during lower attendance matches like yesterday, however during red bulls I was stuck maybe 10 minutes before I could get out.

The way to get in is if you come from Deegan South (where I come from) get off on the Rupert's Garage exit and the flag waving guys just wave you into that parking lot, it's the first lot on the right side in front of the big bat. I used to ignore them and go into ruppert's, but i figure those 10 minutes are worth the $10. And getting back to the Southbound route is even easier since it's a right turn out of the lot, as opposed to Ruppert's left turn (yuck yuck yuck)
 
The way I see it is- Look at heritage field. Think about how big that is, and how the soccer field should fir in the outfield (like in yankee stadium)- then move that over the area you put. If you stick it diagonal like one above Ruppert's plaza, you can easily fit a stadium in there, though.

And then like Nick said above, that area to the west is most likely the housing and developement portion.

Ali's Lot is a different one. It's directly next to the Terminal Market and if you climbed the fence you'd get hit by a Southbound metro north train. Ali's lot is a decent size and you can park anywhere you want essentially. Once you pay you can park wherever, there's no one guiding you to a certain spot. There are lines for spots, but they're so faded that they're barely able to be seen while driving. The lot is next to the staircase/elevator to get up the Metro North overpass, on the west side of the tracks.
 
I had initially thought the plan would include those lots by the River, but the NY Times article seems to suggest it would be the lots along River Ave - on the southeast side opposite Heritage Field and the site for the Stadium.

If the Stadium site is 17 acres, then the other 3 are going to be affordable housing towers. Judging from the shape, some of the 17 might be a park as well.

Might also include the garage on the other side of River between Gerard, 162nd, and 164th. That one is definitely older and likely not in the best condition. (I've never used that one personally so I can't vouch for that admittedly, but it looks like it from the outside.)

I don't see the big deal with putting the train station underground. That's how it is for MSG/Penn Station. Or most subway stations for that matter. Certainly adds to the cost though

They could also just build the stands so that they slope out over the tracks a bit - or even put the structure completely over the tracks and incorporate a station within it.

Problem with either of those is that now you are involving the MTA into your plans and approvals and making things that much more complicated and expensive.

Maybe that's why the price tag is so high?
