2017 Summer Signings

It all depends upon whether we have much TAM/GAM to spend, and I'm not sure anyone knows the answer to that.

Actually, MLSTransfers reported on Twitter that we have $200k in allocation funds available right now. I assume that would be on top of whatever cap space we have. For what that's worth. (Sorry, I can't link to Twitter from work, but here's where I saw this: http://nycfcforums.com/index.php?threads/2017-roster-discussion.4973/page-207#post-205753)

Yeah, if they previously said the roster was set and that they wouldn't be adding any players.
D - you've watched too much soccer in your life to put stock in that.

Only man I've ever seen keep his word on that is Klopp. And that's pretty much only because he didn't want to overpay like some suckerass punks at PSG for Draxler and BVB wouldn't sell him Pulisic for less than 25.

I believed it because I didn't think we had enough financial flexibility to make any moves. Remember we had to buyout Mix to cover all the signings we made before the season.

I think if we sign anyone in the next month it's a Ring/Chanot player. We won't know who they are but our scouts will have put in the work to ensure they are a high caliber MLS player on a non dp wage. I think we learned from our early mistakes what works and doesn't work in the league.

There are plenty of great Argentinian players that would happily take a pay cut if it meant they were actually receiving their pay checks and on time. Hopefully they are scouting there.

Theory:

Could NYCFC be waiting until the end of the window to sign players because new money rules will take place. Didn't MLS announce TAM midseason two years ago and also raise the level last year during the summer - coinciding with their Board of Governors meeting?

Every team had to know if money rules were being voted on, so the reason I can think of that other teams have already pulled the trigger, without waiting, is that they had ground to make up and needed help immediately. Maybe NYCFC feels they can wait longer to add a bigger piece or two rather than immediate smaller pieces while running out of roster space??? The FO has said they're active in the market, so could they be negotiating with the intent to get all the ducks lined up for the CAP raise announcement and then pull the trigger?

The theory all goes to hell if MLS doesn't announce a CAP expansion in the next few days....
