NYCFC has to announce roster moves by Monday. It's also been confirmed by the Montreal from office that the salary cap has been frozen moving towards 2021.

This is an important note because players contracts usually increase on a year to year basis. Teams that are a close to the cap and banked on salary cap increases are going to have to cut players to fit.

Hard to tell if the club is in a tough spot right now because the MLSPA didn't release salary data this year, but could impact the ability to keep on core TAM players.

Isn't most of our spine signed to long-term contracts? Pretty sure Johnson, Tinnerholm, Chanot, Callens, and Ring are all signed long-term. Assuming Parks is, as well, since we just signed him last year. Medina has one year left on his deal, and Maxi is back for one more year. The team should have room to add two DP pieces, but it's going to be hard to extricate from some of these deals.

Hard to tell what the deals actually are. Tinnerholm's extension was announced as a multi-year deal end of 2019. Same when Ring, Callens, Chanot, and Johnson resigned in 2018 and Tajouri-Shradi beginning of this year. Maxi's extension was announced a two year deal. They also never distinguish between years that are guaranteed and option years.

So we basically have no way of knowing the status of especially that 2018 group who would be entering a third year of their extension next year. We do know Stuver, Mataritta, and Ibeagha had options picked up last year so we can assume they are end of contract or have option years for next season.

There's also expansion draft manuevering to think about as well.

Not for us. Since we had a player picked last season, we're exempt from the expansion draft.

The following 10 teams that had players selected by Inter Miami and Nashville SC during the 2019 MLS Expansion Draft, are exempt from the 2020 MLS Expansion Draft: (New York City FC, FC Cincinnati, Los Angeles Football Club, Columbus Crew SC, Seattle Sounders FC, Minnesota United FC, Portland Timbers, New England Revolution, Atlanta United, and Sporting Kansas City).

In recent years, I believe the club's decisions have become public the day after they are due to be submitted to the league. I would expect an announcement tomorrow. Of course, I also wonder if clubs in CCL have been given extensions until they conclude their participation in that tournament. I would not be surprised to learn that has happened, even though it has not been announced.

ETA: Atlanta and Montreal announced their moves, so I guess not on the CCL extension.

i think they are due today but IIRC nycfc tends to announce the next day almost always

Very surprised that GMS has been let go given how much Deila trusts him - I'm guessing he may have wanted to go home.

Generally speaking, this all seems fine?

Kind of as expected -- most of the team is under contract so there wasn't much they could do. Still have room for two DP's and some other help around the edges. Don't think there are really any surprises here. Gary had a nice few games at the end but the vast majority of his time here has been poor.

They did say he hopes to return to the club so probably just negotiating a lesser contract?
This - it looks like they want to renogotiate it at a lower price. I think they see he's not worth as much as they are paying him.
...However towards the end of the season his workrate was exceptional and I wouldn't be mad if he was brought back.
