If Ange P wants him at Celtic, then he must be pretty good

Think he could do really well in MLS. I could see him going to Kansas City based off the secondary rumors coming out the Ronaldo hunt.

i dont believe that rumor for one second. SKC has always been that money ball esque team and i think rarely spend big on anyone. All of a sudden they were going to pay high salaries of C Ronaldo or even Giroud?

Not our typical signing, but def fills the need.

I loved him for Chelsea. Holds the ball up extremely well, happy to get assists if that’s what’s needed and a great clubhouse guy who is always desperate to win. And as we saw in the WC, he can still bang them in at a high level.

I would be thrilled with this.

the guy works hard for sure. but a lot of our style is pressing from the front. i don't think he has the legs to do that.

+1

Think about how effective our press was with Taty busting chops up front. With our striker going all out we played our best brand. I love Giroud's play, but I don't think he's the guy to build upon what's brought us our best success.

I’ve never watched Giroud play, but I will say that styles can be changed. Especially at the beginning of seasons. Just because Torrent and then to an even larger extreme Diela, used a strong press from the front, doesn’t mean that that will be Nick’s style. If I remember correctly during the summer months (when the team wasn’t playing all the great) Nick did change how and when the team pressed. While I’m not saying that’s how I would have played the team, Nick did make changes. With an entire preseason we could see some stylistic changes that could work to the play of Giroud.

The guy was starting for France in the WC. I’m sure we could figure out a way to use him that helps our team.

He would be the most accomplished pure 9 we've ever had, by a mile. OTOH, it would have to be a "win now" strategy, and not building towards the future.

David Villa…? I guess he was more of a winger

Any thoughts on Isco? He recently left Sevilla by mutual agreement as a free agent. As I recall, the last time we needed a 10 we signed a 30 year old with top league experience.

I am not overly familiar with La Liga, but he had success there. If the team wants to keep the model of veteran spine and under-20 South American wingers and midfielders around that spine, he would fit the profile.

I like the thought and see the fit (veteran spine and youth on the wings) but not sure why Isco would want to come to MLS

At this point, any and every rumor without a direct link to a specific team will automatically be talked about by City fans. And rightfully so. As I said earlier, I agree with a majority of the outgoings we've had thus far as the players were either aging out or were depth pieces. But it'd be nice to have at least two high-profile signings before the season starts: one in the attack and one in the midfield.

I'm still not sold on Callens leaving. He obviously loves it here and considering how the South American football press works, I feel we'd know more about inquiries regarding his services at this point if he was negotiating with anyone or even feeling out offers. Plus at his age, I think a big move to Europe is off the cards.

Isco is incredibly talented, especially in terms of keeping the ball and dribbling through traffic. He is probably not dynamic, fast or intense enough for the top leagues but he would probably shine in MLS the way Pozuelo does. IMHO they are pretty similar players, although Isco once had the truly elite upside. I mean, he was a starter for the 2018 WC team and for Real Madrid. If he truly wanted to come and be fit he could give us 3 years of absolute elite talent, but we would have to build the team around him.
