Away - 04/11 Philadelphia

Could it be that our midfield wouldn't look so inept if we had a certain DP#2?

Lets not hold our breath waiting for Saint Lampard. (I am not, I don't look pretty when I turn blue) I have a feeling he is not coming and if he does he will be tired and burnout. Secondly by the time he is supposed to show up, we are halfway through the season. Today's game left me with many concerns, doubts and questions, and I am only a fan! I had to keep checking the TV guide listing to ascertain that I was indeed watching my local MLS team. I felt I was watching the USA national team, that has a tendency to looses important and friendlies games at the last FIVE minutes of ending a game. This is the third game we loose the advantage or the draw in the LAST minutes of ending a game. WHY can we hold the results on those critical last minutes?

I was at the game. The away support was great and Claudio Reyna sat right behind us. Which I thought was really nice.

For the game itself there are still a ton of problems. In the first half they looked so rushed even though Philly wasn't even putting that much pressure on them. Mix and Villa were the only ones that looked comfortable

Second started out really well. I thought we had all the momentum until Le Toux laid on the field for 10 minutes. After that we just didn't get back into it.

Calle for Nemec? As opposed to Poku? So, so, so many questionable strategic and tactical choices from Kreis. And that back line? Half the midfield was back there bailing them out during the first half. Philadelphia stink, and we were trying to build through the midfield with a quarter of the squad trying to shore up the back and another quarter just missing in action. Whenever someone could actually put a ball up to Villa or Nemec, we looked dangerous. But most of the time we were trying to hold and pass like Real Madrid. Things need to be re-thought.

The midfield looks god awful. Far too many giveaways by mix and no creativity. When Shelton comes in it opens things up; the defense has to respect his speed and quickness. Nemec gives us little up top lately, but I think Kreis will be hesitant to bench him for shelton because of the age and experience factor.

We need to mix (no pun intended) it up next game. I'd roll with Calle for Velasquez and K19 for Nemec and roll with a 4-4-2. For Kreis sakes just try it Jason!!

Almost don't want to watch the game now...
Worked till 8 today.
From what I'm reading its most of the same stuff. The solutions seem simple but I think Kreis wants to force that playing style to work. However if he said in an interview that he keeps coming in at halftime every week saying it wasn't good enough then why continue to put the same lineup out... When he inserts certain players in the second half and they make an impact why not start them the next game so we are good enough come half time.

Well I hope to watch a replay of the match, but our defense look absolutely laughable on both goals.

Past game or 2 Ive had to watch from work so not the most in depth viewing. Sadly cant seem to find anywhere to watch full replays. Im frustrated like everyone else and its pretty disappointing. I thought for awhile in the second half we would come up on top or at least maintain a tie. My boss shut off the tv in the 91st and I thought it ended in a tie. I had to come home hours later to realize maybe a minute after he shut the tv we lost.

Things need to change. This starting lineup is not working. I understand the need to give the players time to mesh but I think they have had said time and now is the time for changes. Kreis has admitted he was frustrated and upset. Then change things up.

I honestly dont see the need for Jacobson, Grabavoy, or Brovsky to start. They are all pretty disappointing. Shelton and Poku definitely need to be be starters. They need more time out there. Our back 4 was a mess. Brovsky is all over...not in a good way. Midfield which has problems of its own has to constantly pull back to shore up the holes in defense.

For the players individually its kinda the same story. Nothing changed since our last 2 games. I would of thought the 2 week break would of helped things especially with the full team back. Im starting to come around to Nemec but I still dont see why having him come on as a Sub instead of a starter would be so drastic. Vellasquez has pace and makes good runs but doesnt seem to have direction or good vision on the pitch. He definitely has potential. Grabavoy is constantly overpowered and not aggressive enough. I dont care that he is a "MLS Veteran" he isnt showing much to be a starter IMHO. Mix is good but has too much weight on his shoulder carrying the midfield by himself. Jacobson...a ghost. Calle? Didnt see enough of him. Hernandez I think is our best defender by far. Shelton is class and has proven himself to be a starter time and again. He comes on too late with too little time to really show his true potential impact. Villa's problem is the midfield cant get the ball to him. Saunders is a solid Goalie though I think hes a bit overrated especially on these forums. We give up possession easily, made bad passes, and thus our offensive abilities struggled. Philly looked much scarier and had way more opportunities or goals. The past few games weve made it by almost on luck and mistakes by the opposition rather then our own merits. So again same story different game.

Philly is an underrated team and one I always enjoyed watching. As Kreis said their standings dont reflect them well. Stadium seemed packed with fans which is good. Lets ope we crush them next time and crush them big. If the rapids can beat FC Dallas 4-0 we can rip Philly a new one.

Kreis hopefully changes it up in time for next game. Patience is one thing but continuing on with a failing strategy is just wrong.

Lastly it was stupid our game was pushed off for the freaking yankee post game commentary..i mean come on what is this nonsense. I cant wait till Soccer is big enough in this country not to be pushed to the side like this.

They definitely need to change things up in the midfield. Status quo just isn't working. I'd like to see Poku get some quality minutes in place of Jacobsen. Not that I dislike AJ, he works hard but he gives us nothing going forward. I am also unimpressed with Velasquez and Calle. They are both far too casual with the ball. I think its about time that Kries gives Tommy Mac a run out there. From what I saw of him early on at Chivas last year, he's a creative, attack minded player and that is something we are sorely missing in our midfield.
