It's such great soccer, too. Der Zweite Bundesliga is a blast. Some say it's the most entertaining football league on the Continent.
I have to agree 100%. 2BL is honestly just as fun to watch as some first leagues! and it's never dull because the teams are a lot more balanced than say the championship. One season Dusseldorf can be on the cusp of relegation and then the next they are promoted. Or whatever.

Tough way for Düsseldorf to go out. They were up 3-1 on aggregate after 60' or so only to have it slip away. And my heart goes out to Takashi Uchino. He was absolutely devastated after his missed attempt. Just got caught between two ideas and got under it.

[Ed. note: When taking a penalty, rip the hell out of the thing and don't get cute. It's point blank.]

I never understand why people get so angry at missed penalty takers. (I've seen some people online...) SOMEONE in a penalty shootout is going to miss. It's a requirement of the thing to end, lol.

And in this case, the blame is squarely on the _entire_ dusseldorf team for giving up a 3 goal advantage. This game was lost WELL before it ever got to penalties, lol. Still feel bad for Uchino of course, but the whole Dusseldorf team is probably feeling pretty bad right now.

Absolutely. They went into a match at home with a 3-0 lead in aggregate. No way should Düsseldorf have even been in that position.

They may have been gassed. They were still up 3-1 in aggregate at 65' before letting it slip away.

Truth be told though, I'm not sure they were even one of the better teams in Die Zweite. They certainly didn't look particularly organized yesterday, and with promotion on the line, you'd expect them to come out and force Bochum to take it from them rather than just kind of kick it around out there.
