General MLS Discussion

Am I a bad person because I want Nashville to win on Sunday, regardless of what it does for us in the standings?
While normally I'd love that, I think it would be bad threefold:
1) 2nd place for us would mean home games through NE. (Meaning two games)
2) 3rd place for us would mean we have to play Nashville, away, in the second game, and Nashville are yet to lose at home this season.
3) Who doesn't wanna see Orlando to free-fall out of the playoffs?

Fair enough, although why they had Martinez on there at all, let alone as the front runner, is mystifying.
Perfect example of the cult like obsession with Martinez and Atlanta by MLS. Sometimes good analysis and rational is set aside for popularity. It's the American way.

Respect for the Revs. Rebrand done very well. The new logo works and I think if they use the one on top of the box, it's gonna look real nice and popping on the jerseys!

I just hope the new teams coming into the league aren't going to FC themselves, but we all know they are.
I find the new logo perplexing. It echos the ghostbusters logo. It's like the R is trying to break out of some red un barbed wire.

I would personally value the Red Bulls not making the playoffs over us being the 2nd seed and having potentially a second home playoff game...I think...

give me home games... and if NE loses to the 4/5 we get all 3 games at home... But if we get the 3 seed and redbull miss out I wouldnt be pissed.

I agree! I think… mostly I think it’s important to have them not in the playoffs for the sole purpose of not having a chance to have to play them or Chicago. The team has just not been good against either team all year. Is that worth it at the detriment of a road play off game? I’m not sure.

We didn't play well against Nashville either, and I'd much rather have to play nashville at yankee stadium than at nashville.

I think our home field advantage for playoffs has to be more important that our schadenfreude in regards to either ORL or RB. There is such a long tradition of shield winners getting kicked out at the first chance during playoffs, that getting 2nd or 3rd seed would be really good for us. Nashville is a very good defensive team but doesn't create a lot of chances, so even if they hadn't lost at home they have tied so many times that they could easily go to penalties. Talent wise ATL scares me more than Nashville.

The hipster pick to defeat NE in the playoffs is Nashville given its propensity to park the bus and/or draw a lot of games.

NYCFC and RBNJ both win, it puts Nashville down to 4th. It’s not implausible that Nashville would win the 4/5 match at home and then go and park the big yellow bus at Foxborough and either win on a mistake or draw and win in penalties (although going against Turner in penalties? Good luck).

We can't overthink this. The No. 2 seed gets AT LEAST two home games -- and maybe even a third one if NE gets knocked off. The best chance to win a title is with the 2-seed, especially how we play at Yankee Stadium.

Exactly, that's why I'm saying we should set our sights on the No. 2 seed

As part of that release, they're saying no more than 5 midweek games for any team next year. That's going to wonders for player health and stadium attendance.
