General MLS Discussion

Revs continuing off 2022 the way the played in 2021. Very, very close games. And you can see without Turner it ends 2-2 today.
I have a feeling we see a lot more ties by the Revs this season.

last year this match ends either 2-1 with Turner making some ridiculous save(s) or a 3-2 Revs win with a goal from say Buksa or Tajon in the 90th minute. They won so many 1 goal games or won them late last year, something like 20 points above their expected points. Expect some regression to the mean this year.

FWIW The Athletic writers expect Orlando to be very good this year. Curious to see them against Montreal.

Kaka is back for the season opener. Always liked that guy!

will be a good test to see how good orlando really is. montreal have been playing really well lately.

exploria stadium doesn't look too full for a season opener. but i do see a lot of people walking around the concourse too. wonder what their attendance is like. i hope if we have a 25k stadium, we'd sell out every match.

I thought the same

It is such a huge contrast with crowds in europe. when you watch EPL games, the seats are filled and everyone is sitting and watching the game because they're enjoying the sport, the tactics, the skill, etc. MLS games, people are mostly there to enjoy a social time to eat, drink, and just enjoy the atmosphere and the sport is 2nd to that.

in other news... orlando's new signing, facundo torres, looks to be a real pain in the ass. seems to have a very high work rate and skill.

It's like that in every sport in America, though. Especially baseball. Unless it's a playoff game, you usually see folks hanging out in the concourses, etc.

Did you see the Houston 713 promo to get people in the seats in a couple of weeks -- $7 tickets $1 hot dogs $3 beers. Unbelievable.
Making me wonder if NYCFC were to do this (they won't), which area code would they use and what would cost what? I think 718, with $7 beers, $1 hot dogs and $8 tickets.

718 is second most famous and longstanding NYC area code, has a couple of high digits, and is specifically associated with the Bronx and Queens. which are the club's first and second primary homes.
