General MLS Discussion

He had so much promise as a player before the car accident . Saw there were over 29 k at this match guess people wanted to see Toronto’s new stars ?

definitely. lots of italians in boston area. i'm sure they made the trip to see true blue italian internationals.

Union are on an absolute heater right now, in their last five games (all wins) have won two of them by scores of 6-0 and 7-0. NYCFC has won four of their last five and can’t gain any ground.

When the Revs had Walter Zenga on the team years ago, they were among the bright spots of attendance in the league. They've never really contended since then.
Lots of italiano's in the area.

They don't concede goals. We've got the shutouts but they just never concede. They never gave up >2 goals all season, and conceded 2 goals just twice. Makes it hard to lose.
Letting them take 6 of 6 points H2H is a lot to overcome.

It’s crazy that SJ has a real shot at the clean sheet record but PHI has given up 6 goals less than NYCFC. I think PHI has a shot at the fewest goals conceded record over the whole season.

It would be a modestly cool thing if both those records were set this year by different teams.

I reluctantly concede philly are really good this year . If we don’t add anyone to our squad getting past then might be a tall order . Still think LAFC would beat them in a final .

philly are good. lafc are good. both teams have had consistent midfields who play nearly every game and have great partnerships and chemistry. i think this is absolutely vital in the midfield and defense and something we didn't really have this season up to now.

i think we are still good, but injuries and shakeups have taken their toll as or more than expected. i think if we can get parks, maxi, and anton back to fitness and game form, we're a very good squad. but i hope the club is looking for midfield signings cause we need a true 8.

Philadelphia's weakness is the lack of a game changer. The Union may have the fourth most goals this season, but 13 of those goals were in home games against two terrible teams - D.C. and Houston. They are organized, have talent at the back, work hard in midfield - and yet every time I watch them, they seem a well-drilled team that has no spark. In contrast, LAFC and NYCFC (even without Taty) have players that can make something out of nothing.

NYCFC may not catch the Union in the standings due to the points loss head to head, and Philadelphia might go further in the playoffs, but I'd say it is more likely than not that the Union leave 2022 without silverware. The do no harm style won't be enough to catch LAFC even if they hold off NYCFC in the east, and in the playoffs someone with a higher ceiling will beat their low floor team. I know I will wager against them in the playoffs (feel free to bump this thread after I lose money....).

It seems the MLS record for fewest goals allowed in a 34 game season is 27 by SKC in 2012..27 in 2012. That's 0.79 per game.
The lowest ever is RSL in 2010 allowing 20 goals in 30 games or 0.67 per game.
The Union stand at 15 in 23 or 0.65 per game.
Technically, the 202 Union are tied with RSL and also allowed 20 goals but in a shortened 23 game season.

Spent the weekend at a friends place in Orlando and we watched the OC game. Seeing it live there’s no way the first DC goal was onside. It looked a foot off at least. DC looked dangerous as well. It’s still weird seeing Rooney on the sidelines.

anybody notice in the FC dallas game at the start of the first and second half... the person holding, what looks like a plastic light saber and swinging it in circles to indicate the start? wtf is that? lol looks like a bunch of light sabers in the crowd too.
