General MLS Discussion

Didn't look up the rule ... But does this mean callens is suspended the next game after the all star game? Or the first game he's able to play? I would guess it's the next game... But MLS be wonky. Also, damn... Injury bug hits us again. Damn you cucho! *Shakes fist*

As I recall, if you are out of the All-Star game because of injury, then you can't play in your team's next regular season game. This is to prevent players from claiming an injury when they aren't hurt (or not very badly hurt). The theory is that if you aren't faking it, then you won't play in the next regular season game anyway.

This got us a couple of years ago, when David Villa was selected for the all-star team and missed several games leading up to it with an injury. He skipped the all-star game but was available for our regular season game that weekend. He wasn't able to play.

yea. i remember that. sadly, callens will probably be out for a few games after the all star game. :/

LAFC stomped charlotte.

our midweek game might be a tough one playing charlotte at home after they got stomped. they'll likely be pumped up to get a win.

Charlotte is the worst team in the East on the road with only 5 points on the road the whole year. Trap game.

And we won't be? Anything less than a big win will be a disappointment on Wednesday, even with us playing at RBA.

you'd think we would have been pumped up to get wins the last couple of games. didn't seem like we were pumped. not saying we played terribly. but playing like a team that was gonna do whatever it took to win... didn't quite get that impression.

Road teams, for whatever reason, realy struggle in MLS. We played well but made some stupid mistakes that we usually don't make. I'll take those performances any day because they'll usually lead to wins.

LAFC has 54 points with 10 games to go.
Last year LAFC had 45 points in the entire season and missed the playoffs.

Most points in the league since joining. Set a points record their second year; might set a new record this year. Missed playoffs once. Exactly one playoff round win all time.
MLS.

A lot of those things sound similar to what we were doing - we didn't set points records but we were doing pretty dang well, and had i think 2 playoff round wins up to that point? Or was it 3? Either way, all it takes is that one year....!

Stats like this make me appreciate the Club we support.

LAFC set a points record in 2019, barely made the playoffs in 2020, missed in 2021, and is back on top in 2022. Atlanta got 69 points & won the title in 2018, was 3rd in SS in 2019, missed the playoffs in 2020, finished 5th in 2021 and is below the line this year. Both teams kept spending the whole time. New England set a points record last year, winning the East by 19 points. One year later, they are below the line.

NYC has been in the Top 4 in the East every season but one - 2020, when it finished 5th. It's finished 1st in the East one and 2nd twice. It's brought home a Cup.

That kind of consistency in this league is not easy. There is maybe one other team that can rival it over the last six seasons.
