General MLS Discussion

There is one East/West interconference game remaining, and the season series is tied. Each conference has 40 wins and there have been 31 draws. The East has a +1 Goal Differential.
Last East-West game features Seattle hosting Cincinnati. Both teams need the points and Cincinnati has turned into a respectable road team.

Philly still has already qualified for CCL though.

so its philly/ orlando/ LAFC and ??? ( MLS Cup Winner). If any of those three win then its Austin? i think that qualifies ? I think Montreal would not as the canadaian representative is Vancouver.

as it stands, this sounds correct to me. if austin lose out and red bulls or dallas win, they'll get that spot. sadly, once again the only way we qualify is if we win the cup again.

since there is no separate thread for it, just gonna put it here..

found it strange there's still a leagues cup showcase game left. RSL vs ATLAS .. and they are playing it at their secondary field, not at the RioT. weird.

-- that being said, I am very excited for 2023 leagues cup.

America First field is the new name for the RioT, they just signed a 10 year stadium deal with America First Credit Union.

that was the 2nd result on google. lol. 1st result said it was the training ground. sigh.

So I guess that confirms MLS Week 1 next year is Feb. 25-26. Unless this would be a one-off curtain raiser, which seems pretty unlikely.

Lol why? Banc holds 22,000 and Dignity health holds 27,000. The rose bowl holds 88,000. There’s no way they fill it or even get close to it.

I think they will certainly get close at minimum. These games have generally been terrific, and this will be a showpiece. I would imagine it is also an effort to get some attention for LA as a soccer city ahead of venue selection for the 2026 world cup.

Definitely a money grab cause of the big names on both squads..

But having el trafico at a neutral site takes away from it.. whoever is the home team gets a disadvantage

They do something similar in the SJ vs galaxy where they play at Stanford stadium.

Although I think there was more “history” to that as I think it’s where SJ played there before in their history.
