Home 05/15 - Chicago

We are so shit. Unbelievably lucky to have gotten a point.

We are truly right there for worst in the league.

Unfuckingbelievable that Kreis would run out two fullbacks who are literally the worst goddamn MLS players I've ever seen. Allen doesn't even put on the facade of a pro. He's afucking hatchet man. An embarrassment to club, the league and the ownership.

It truly makes me ashamed. Tonight was not the football I support. I was there, and I'm happy to get a point. But that was just shameful. Across the board.

This. We got lucky. Very lucky.

Im Glad Khiry finally scored. Will do wonders to improve his confidence behind the ball. Though to be more critical from the replays it looked like a very weak/lucky shot. He still needs a ton of work on his finishing. Ballouchy got lucky again it seems but whatever ill take it at this point.

Also like Tom said it seems as soon as we stop playing Kreis's game plan our performance increases. Maybe a possession based strategy is not suited for us? (shocking I know considering our quality on the pitch...)

As much bitching as we will do about Villa, he was the main reason we scored twice tonight, and he was absolutely ecstatic to pick up a point at Yankee Stadium. What a game, what an atmosphere.

Imagine 90 mins at home with a full squad plus Fat Frank. MMMMmmmmmm
Imagining Frank may be the only way we get 90 of him.

Anyone else notice Tommy Mac's touch resembled that of someone who gets paid to play soccer? Amazing the difference between a pro and the Sunday league shit we regularly send out.

I was so happy, but then I remembered it was Chicago.

The positive takeaway for me is that we salvaged what could have been the moment this team lost The City. I feared we were circling the Chivas drain.

So another player Kreis has refused to start for no reason in favor of Youth League coaches and washed out RSL guys with natty hair...

I feel you. My same concern as well. Atleast we put on a "comeback kid" like performance for the crowd. But for anyone whose following things closely...barely getting a point against chicago at home is a disappointment...they arent Seattle...

Tell that to CFG. All we've been hearing about is how they want us to play the City way. Possession, high pressing style just like the City way. Except there is no such thing as the city way. But Kreis is still expected to try to emulate it, which is why he went to Manchester last year.

Even if Kreis goes I guarantee the possession won't leave with him. The next guy is going to be expected to play this imaginary City way.

The skill level of the majority of the roster is not made to play a possession game. Who knows maybe in a couple years, our academy kids will come up under the system and will play that way.

Yikes.....this site has become about as bad as the facebook page. I'm going to have to take a break from the site. Hopefully by then Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan will change up his predictable and consistent style of saying everything is shit in every post. I knew this season would be tough, but I expected the once good folks on here to understand that and create a level of dialogue that would be higher than the level of the club. Unfortunately, the club has struggled but the content on here has become unreadable.
Please get it together guys...or just go to the facebook page.

Edited to give Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan less to bitch about

Call me out if you're going to call me out. As it is, I'll post my opinion. You can post yours. And you can easily find the ignore button. I'm sure an admin can point you to it.

Mind boggling to me how desperately some people, you among them I guess, find such a need to tell people how they should be a fan or post or what is acceptable to bitch about. Did you backpack across South America, too?

I won't attempt to camouflage how crap we are just because I support the team. And I won't tell anyone else here what they can think or what makes a good supporter. Some people will always be sunshine pumpers. I won't be. It's not my nature. This isn't new. So again, I will direct you to the ignore function.

And don't post something directing it to me without tagging me, please. That's just etiquette, dude.

There were some mistakes and questionable performances, but the players that stayed on the field deserve respect for pulling out a draw from that position. Not easy.

I couldn't believe the ref though. Can't really complain about Allen getting sent off, but when he carded Villa for coming over to talk to him at the half I couldn't stop laughing. What a dork.

First 45 minutes (not counting 46th) was truly dreadful and even those preaching patience (including me since we don't all expect a new team to miraculously click in all areas overnight) couldn't really try to defend that. Dave Martinez on twitter even said he had never seen NYCFC actually "going through the motions" and I felt the effort was lacking as well at that point. Lack of effort at any level is unacceptable but somehow the team managed to turn it round. Considering it was 10 men and the huge improvement in the 2nd half its hard to say on balance that a point wasn't just about deserved. Don't think the first half should be sugercoated however at all we have to judge on balance over 90 minutes.

Considering the attendance increase from Philadelphia, Portland, etc there's hardly a risk of "losing the city" at all. Having individual zero tolerance for the slightest mistake is one thing but to suggest fans on the whole would turn on the team is a false accusation. Though there may well have been boos had Ballouchy not scored (and they would have deserved them too) and what was Allen supposed to do in that situation. Someone suggested Saunders had it covered but Allen won the ball. Granted it was his mistake that caused it in the first place but I refuse to agree with that red card. Shelton will probably never forget his moment for the rest of his life.

Hopefully that first half performance will be as bad as it gets for a long time.

I know a point is better than nothing but don't you think it's time for Kreis to be in the hot seat already?

Agree that JK has to be squirming in the hot seat, however I am not an advocate of firing the coach yet. I have a feeling its a matter of finances that is keeping the coach hands tied.
Not enough money after the Lampard fiasco. ( Does any one know if the dude had a salary advance?) And We certainly need a talented DP midfielder Faaast!

We must be all proud that our team prevailed despite the referring decisions favoring Chicago Fire team: a yellow card to Capitan Villa, awarding the penalty and red card.
This game result to me was a BIG WIN against all odds despite being the underdog with 10 men.

I cam home with a big smile and will wake up with a big smile too!

It was not luck. It was hard work, grits and guts, talent from Villa , Saunders , Ballouchy, Khiry , Brovsky, Wingert, Mullins,Mix, OMG trying to remember all - please players forgive me If I don't recall your name. I love you ALL :)

I am not sure where to post this thought but here seems ok. I think a lot of folks who post about how bad our team is dont watch anty mls except our games. We havent been getting results or goals like we should but other than a few stretches during some games we play an attractive possession game with good off the ball movement. Teams with better records have no ideas other than kick a hopeful long ball to a star or fast forward and are definitely much worse than us. If someone has seen a San Jose game and still thinks we are shit let me know.
