New York City v Seattle Sounders
Yankee Stadium (1:00pm ET)
REF: ROBERT SIBIGA
AR1: Jason White
AR2: Jose Da Silva
4TH: Jorge Gonzalez

Sibiga was referee for our 1-1 draw at Dallas earlier this year as well as our 2-0 victory at Houston at the end of last season. He was also the referee who waved off a winning goal by Toronto against the Red Bulls last month when he judged a Toronto player to be obstructing the goalie while in an offside position.

So the one who didn't think there was a clear handball in the box either.

But both of those controversial calls went in the favor of the home team, so perhaps we are in for some home cooking?

He's been the 4th official for several homes games this year. Him and Vieira have a rapport.

I think the Dallas game was reasonably officiated. The handball wasn't a clear handball. It is open to interpretation - and when that is the case, I get that some referees want to give the player the benefit of the doubt.

Here is a list of available players for this match. Much better than last time, but with three important question marks.

Out
Shelton is still recovering from his hamstring injury.

Questionable
Maxi
tweaked his ankle on Wed night, and his status is unknown.
There were rumors that we would continue to rest Herrera after his run at the U20 World Cup, but I have to think he will be available for this game, especially if Maxi can't go.
Chanot was listed as questionable for the NJ game with a hamstring injury suffered against the Netherlands over the weekend. No update yet on his status.

Roster
This leaves us with the following players available, with questionable players in italics.

Striker: Villa, Okoli
Winger: Harrison, Wallace, TMac, Lewis, Camargo
Mids: Minimax, Ring, Herrera, Pirlo, Lopez, Stertzer, Awuah
FBs: Matarrita, White, Sweat, Allen, Gomez
CBs: Chanot, Callens, Brillant
GKs: Johnson, Johansen, Rawls

Remember when people were rejecting acquisition suggestions because we had too many midfielders already? Lol.

If Pirlo doesn't play this game, I'm convinced his career is over.

If Vieira is tired of playing sub-par midfielders, I could see another attempt at a 3-4-3:

Wallace - Villa - Harrison
Matarrita - Ring - Pirlo - Allen
Callens - Brillant - White

Let Chanot, Maxi, and Herrera get healthy/rest. It's a long season.

I'd be okay with this, and think that Ring fills Maxi's role as well as anyone on the team. You're going to have to run him hard, though, to probably still cover for Pirlo. Wouldn't mind seeing Herrera give Ring a breather around 60' if they can finagle it.

Fuck no. I can't handle more Sweat
Fck, I can't handle guys leaving for NT duty on the heals of just getting fit. I don't believe he played, but I'd be surprised if he didn't damn near train his ass off in CR's practices to earn a spot. Would have been better served staying here and training a bit easier knowing there weren't two games last week.
