Man City Discussion

please sell. Please sell. Please sell.

I can get the sentiment but to whom ? Do we think there's someone else who would get the stadium deal done quicker? Or at all if CFG really do have something in place finally now? I'd also presume there'd be a complete rebrand colors etc. which the longer we exist would seem hard to take as the same team?

If CFG sold all of their soccer empire separately, much like a chop shop with the pieces worth more than the sum, there would definitely be a buyer for NYCFC, and very likely One with NY roots. We don’t have to know names, but to think there wouldn’t be a potential owner(ship group), or multiple, willing to take over exactly when CFG/NYCFC left off with the stadium and under the same terms, then you’re fooling yourself. This city has so many rich business folk who value the status that a sports franchise brings, but are currently out of the game with no viable clubs in the big 5 domestic leagues - the Mets are a mess but looks like ARod is making a move for them. As convoluted as MLS’ ownership structure is, with remaining expansion winding down, NYCFC would be a hot item to purchase, especially if the stadium roadmap is (nearly) set.

And yes, a rebrand would be great. No more light blue, no more Etihad, and no more being second fiddle to the owner.

Interesting perspective here that doesn’t predict a particular final outcome of the appeals processes. rather, the author speaks to the approach of the club as an extension of the same practices and principles of the UAE government.

Fun times ahead for all.

I suspect UEFA will dig their heals in and fight this tooth and nail. Failure will render any other rule meaningless to a challenge. And they aren’t too fond of CFG after one exec associated with the issue made a comment of “1 down, 6 more to go,” when one of the infraction investigators passed away.

I also read they waited as long as they did to file because they wanted to make absolutely certain their evidence and case would stand on merit without the leaked newspaper docs having to be used.

holy crap that article has a really badly worded title!!!!!

Man City defuse ‘atomic bomb’ to leave Uefa with their own explosive problems to solve
Could be read as:
[Man City defuse 'atomic bomb' to leave Uefa] with their own explosive problems to solve
And that's the way i initially read it lol.

Either way, I'm very unhappy with this ruling. I understand some of the reasoning, but this sets a precedent and it's one I really don't like.

lol no way you expected teams like Man City / PSG to really be banned? at most they get a transfer ban or two and thtats it. only the little teams will get the hammer if they do anything wrong in uefa

Given the rather in-depth investigative reporting we've all read about CFG cooking the sponsorship books I'd say it's rather surprising that CAS has made a statement as definitive as "Manchester City FC did not disguise equity funding as sponsorship contributions".

CAS have caved on everything from Chelsea's transfer ban to Russian doping and I see no reason why they won't do exactly the same here. I think it's more likely that Man City will win next year's UCL than it is they won't play in it.

As for CFG selling Man City - would Abu Dhabi really abandon this entire project for the sake of a two year ban in one competition? I doubt their Chinese shareholders would like that idea.

European Super League - not going to happen. Good luck persuading any English club to join one, and without any of them, the numbers don't make sense.

Who could possibly have foreseen this bombshell ruling?!

Pep is staying! We’ll see if any moves are made next transfer window. I think if we make a big CB purchase it will be a telling sign he will be staying here.

No. I wasn't expecting it.

I don’t even mind the rainbow colors, I think that’s kind of fun and interesting. I really don’t like the number sets with the blocky arcade number counters
